let's see The original owner of my car payed $38,900 (he/she left the sticker price in the manual). 3000+ miles later he/she sold it to Carmax. Carmax was selling it for $31,980 (KBB $35,000+).

So the car depreciated from $38,900 (not included tax, tags, etc.) to $35,500 (KBB Value)

Now 4,000 miles later my car is still worth $34,880.

Original owner lost atleast $3400 after owning it.
I lost $620 since owning.
How is that the same?
Original owners who purchase new cars lose more because when a "new car" becomes a "used car", the price automatically drops regardless of mileage as long as it has more than 0.

That's what I'm trying to get across ... the previous poster was stating that driving anything off the lot, "used" or "new", it depreciates the same.

are you referring to me? I didn't mention anything about used car...and wasn't comparing new vs use. My point was originally I wouldn't put alot of money down on any car because it depreciates. i rather put alot of money into something that appreciates instead. People make different decisions in life. There is not just one best way to do things so dont go knocking on people who don't think like you, please.

I didn't think you meant it... that's why I asked. but you didn't respond. As I said before I'm paying it off quick to free up $$$ in the near future.

Also I agree that I wouldn't try paying off a "new" car right away.

Hi I am a Knucklehead then

4 year lease... 12,000 miles per year...

My Z was modified.... lets see...

4 different NISMO CF Carbon Ciber Front Bumpers, CF Nismo Side Skirts, CF Nismo Rear Valances, CF Nismo Wing (all replicas of course)... Fuzion CF Hood...

Suspension, I had... Eibach Springs, TEIN S-Tech, Tanabe GF210, HKS Hipermax II, NISMO Sways...

NISMO LMGT4's, and ENKEI NT03+M

TILTON Flywheel & Clutch, UR Crank Pulley, JWT Pop Charger, Rev-UP lower plenum, NISMO Exhaust, DC Headers,

Gutted Interior w/ Sparco Pro-2000

Full body graphics, then repainted to SMOKE color as seen on the Maxima and Titan... 06 Tail Lights to boot...

Stop TEch 4 wheel BBK

Mialege in the 3 years I had it... Sold with 68000 Miles on it... Put it back to stock except for the crank pulley and headers...

What to do with a car that has been modified if you want out of the lease... Have the dealer buy you out of your lease and get what ever else you want...

It really is not a big deal...

Example... Call who ever you are leasing the car from, find out your total pay off amount... Say it is $18000, Your Z is worth $16,000 as a trade... It will cost you $2K to get out of your lease...

Sell off your mods...

Done

oh yea for got this body kit... INGS Replica... saved rear emblem and rear wiper...

I dont think thats what he was referring to when he said leasing is for knuckleheads. He meant at the end of a lease the vehicle isnt yours, at the end of a buy it is.

Yeah I'm a Knucklehead too

I leased my enthusiast roadster with 0 down, pay 580/mo for 4 yrs

I deduct every single payment every fiscal year and get every penny back

at the end of the four years I will have driven a roadster for the last four

years for free and I will only need to pay about 15 k to buy out so by that

time I buy out I estimate my roadster will be worth 25k and I will only have

paid 15k or less for it while you finance the whole retail price......

yeah I'm a knucklehead alright.... I'll make money on mine while yours

depreciates.....

READ THE ORIGINAL POST ... I said for people that leased without the intent to buy ..... also how are you using a lease payment as a tax deduction?

Mods Please close this thread ... it's absolutely useless.

Haha, yeah, if we all wanted to make smart financial decisions we probably shouldn't have even bought a $30k sports car in the first place. I'm not leasing, but knew that buying a Z brand new wasn't smart (financially) in the first place. Just want to enjoy life a bit

I'm not sure what tax bracket you are in but how do you get every penny back? Do you own a business? If so then you are in the 1 of 2 of my reasons people should lease.

Yeah that is true, buying a brand new car will yield a loss. But I bought it new because I always bought used cars prior to my Z, including my Supra. So I wanted a little change, and purchasing a new car for the first time was sorta cool.

Reguardless... All the money I spent on my Z I FEEL (which is most important) that I loved my car every second I drove it... It was worth all that I gained / lost from it...

When it comes down to it... Doesnt matter what you spend, as long as YOU are happy...

B.S. huh ignorance is bliss, do some google research regarding tax deductions with leased vehicles... Business is one way of deducting, the rest is based on conditions pertaining to how you make your income... I did my research do yours and don't hate it makes you sound very juvenille any one who knows taxes knows this is not B.S. why do you think leases exist, they don't neccessarly exist for the benefit of the average Joe. They exist primarly for the systematical benefit of business.

if you still confused you are on your own !
