Used Z worth it?
Guys,
I ran into a Z owner today who was selling his car. I was wondering if this was a good deal. The problem is its an 03.

6 speed
$19,500.
Problem is I don't want to be stuck with tire feathering issues at all. Or the infamous rest of the problems with the 03's. My buddy recently bought a 03 G35 coupe with 58k miles for $21k so I think this is sort of a good deal.

I personally would not get an '03. I mean shop around, Buying a used car takes time. Shop around until you found a car that you would buy in a heartbeat. Thats when you know you've found the right car.
Tire feathering issues can be fixed pretty easily now so I wouldn't not buy the car because of it. That deal doesn't seem bad at all, but I would shop around to get the features/options you want in the Z and to make sure this is the right car for you. Also to note, the G will have a slightly higher resale value than the Z.

The thing is I really didn't want a 6-speed either. And I don't want to start the Manual-Vs-Auto debate either. My GTO is a 6-speed, and its also a big pain in my butt to drive everyday. I can't stand the 1-2 block out, 1st gear block out and just the general crappiness of the way its setup, plus the hassle of driving it everyday to and from work and other places.
I drove the 06 in my Vegas trip thread, and it was an auto with rev-matching and I instantly fell in love. If I could find a 05 Daytona blue, that would be really perfect for me. Otherwise i'm going to try and get a brand new one and possibly just lease it for the time being and see where I can survive with it.

Yeah but I'm willing to compromise. On the other hand, i'm not willing to because its not entirely what I want, but i'm starting to question my judgement of what I want/need and what justifications I make for what I want.

There is nothing wrong with an 03. Do some research and take it all with you when you go to look at the car. Get all TSBs, make a list of options you want, and have some serious questions for the seller. Look through his reciepts and any logs he kept of gas mileage and oil changes.
