To Mr23779:

Your attitude sounds excellent. I wish all law enforcement were the same.

Awesome. Isn't it a shame that members have to explain themselves because other members have their heads in the sand and extoll ignorance?
You have to understand where that comes from though too. I mean, who talks about GOOD experiences with cops? And I don't mean the ticket you got, I mean how he treated you during the situation. I have had good and bad experiences myself, once rolling through a stop sign and the officer was extremely professional and friendly. Then there is the time I was cursed at and pretty much harassed, for soemthing I do not know of to this day. Just remember though, that for every bad experience someone tells you about, most have had a good one and just don't tell their friends.

I was a Police officer for almost 3 years and would never have done anything like that. But like others said One **** gives the rest of the officers bad names. Believe it or not there are some really cool cops out there.

Exactly...When is the last time someone posted here "My car didn't break down today". That said, it's important to acknowledge the fact that the car didn't break down, because the ratio of break-downs to non-break-downs plays into how people view the car. And yes, I'm talking about LEO's.

I've had my share of 'traffic encounters' with LEO's over the years, and to date I've never had a run-in with a bad one...maybe I'm lucky, but I suspect I'm more just the norm.

I say go for it! If it's something you really want to accomplish, you won't regret it! All the hard work, study time, and dedication it takes will pay off in spades.

You bring up a really great point here. Excellent analogy! When was the last time you heard someone say, "Man! I had an ordinary day!"

You usually only hear about the extremes:
"Man! What an awesome day!"
or
"Man! What a crappy day!"

It's definitely just part of human nature. You typically only hear about things that are on opposite ends of the spectrum: good vs bad or right vs wrong. It's not too exciting to say things are on an even keel and seem normal.

...and by the way...my new Z didn't break down today!

I hate cops.. because I called them in a life threatening situation and no one ever responded for an hour TWICE!
and guess what, they always hide behind bushes with speed traps.. They should have better things to do than eating donuts all day long and catch speeders. Oh and how many times do you see cops abusing their power? I see it all the time. Night time, whenever they don't want to wait for traffic light, they just turn on siren briefly and pass by intersection

I'm gonna start some positivity about my Z...I have an '05 with 6K Miles on her...She runs great on a consistent basis and I have ZERO to complain about! Just wish I could drive her more often (I have a company car - '05 Grand Prix that's used as a Mon-Fri car).

Karma is a ***** and I'll deal with it like everything else. I'm not worried at all about karma biting me in the *** because I make my own decisions. I've been saying F the police for sometime now and my life is going great and only getting better. No complaints here other than for the few cops who F it up for the rest. After reading the whole thread it seems that most of us either have a hatred or a great dislike for law enforcement. Keep crying, the thread always needs some weaklings.

Statements like wishing the cop had died when he wrecked that car suggests more than being pissed off about bad experiences. Some real deep-rooted hate going on. Nothing weak about non-generalization, I really hope a police officer is around when my a$$ is in trouble!

Dude... the only person that you can rely on to help you is YOU. The supreme court long ago abdicated the police of any responsibility to protect you and yours. (if you want me to cite case law I can)

The police are there to file the paperwork long after the event has happened. They also spend most of their time supplementing the state taxes with speeding tickets on roads that should have long ago had the speed limit raised to 65 or higher.

So the question that you really need to ask yourself is "what are you going to do in the time between when you dial 911 and the time the cops finally show up?".

My answer is certainly not going to be "on my knees begging for mercy".

Let's see...

Robbed at knife point as a kid with my mom... Cops did nothing but a report

Mom's purse snatched- I chased the guy down.. another report

Car broken into, window busted out... report

Buddy's truck vanalized and stereo swiped at our workplace... oh look, a report

Other buddy's house robbed twice in a year.. he got a couple of reports too

Wife drove up to our apartment being robbed on Christmas eve... report

Driver with no license and no insurance runs a redlight and totals my car and what do I have to show for it? a Report and the guy walks because he's not a legal resident or citizen (from the hospital at least.. gotta love karma)

55 in a 35.. bingo! Cop does something productive and is one step closer to his unoffiicial quota. Granted I was wrong and if you play you pay- no argument there. But again.. ticket = report.

Cops are secretaries on wheels down here. For any real emergency you have to rely on yourself first. Not a lot of love for LE here. If I call 911 it will be for a medical emergency... not for a cop, although I'll have pen and paper ready in case one shows.

This particular cop was an idiot but still not representative of all cops. There are some good ones out there. They apparently drive 350Zs and don't live in FL.

Maybe this is just something that is done locally, but when a police officer arrests a guy after pulling him over, the car gets TOWED to an impound lot. Nobody drives it anywhere.

Just seems odd the cop ended up driving it. What did he do with his squad car?
