Unhappy Mossy Nissan Second Preorder

By luck I called El Cajon Mossy around June 22-23 and they had 2 left from their second batch of pre-orders. (For those not familiar, Mossy Nissan received a second batch of 10 cars per dealership I believe after their initial 15 car alotment.)

So I ordered one (or pre-ordered).

Couple questions for those who pre-ordered (especially for those who delt with Mossy).
1. Although I have the carbon copy of the charge on my credit card for the deposit, my account hasn't registered the amount. This is kinda odd? Normal?
2. What are the chances that the pre-order failed? I have this bad feeling that I just got pulled in for a heart-pounding "I just bought a Z" but ended up just getting my chain yanked around... not to mention wasted paper-work.
3. What's was the average wait for confirmation from Nissan that "yes, we got your preorder"?

In the meanwhile I'm crossing my fingers cause of the lack of feedback on my pre-order.

Ergh...

Ordered mine in Jan from El Cajon. So far no problems other than I'm still waiting for my car! It will take awhile to get the confirmation from Nissan be patience. Patience is a virture that must be applied to Nissan 350z.

Used a credit card for the deposit as well and have paid for it long ago. Mossy, will collect its deposit, no need to worry. Car dealerships are good at seperating us from our money. Now, if only they can tell me when will my car will arrive?

KG-If I only knew about my Daytona Blue

Kearny Mesa Mossy. So far their customer service is pretty ridiculous. Even though everyone is nice, they know NOTHING.

I called yesterday about my tracking number, and they're like "We don't know anything about that, what's a tracking number?"

Anyways, I doubt they're taking you for a ride, they're probably just a tad incompetent. Mossy is a huge bureaucratic institution as far as I can tell...

Ken,

Who did you order through at El Cajon? I ordered through Gill (I think) on 1/22, but was told when I called a few months later that he was gone. Bruce Taylor was taking over my order. Called yesterday to try and get my order number, was told that Bruce is now gone. Talked to John, who said he would call me back today. We'll see.

Have they told you your order number? Nice to see some other Mossy orderers coming out of the woodwork.

Thanks, Ken, for the reassurance.

One more question though. Did they charge your card immediately? Or do does it take a little while before they get to cashing in on the deposit? I'm still not too clear on this... sorry.

Good luck for those who pre-ordered from Mossy. I hope to hear some more good news from you guys who ordered early while I twiddle my thumbs in anticipation.

I'm sure my sales guy is also long gone. Jason the sales manager in El Cajon seemed to be the most knowledgable guy there. He told me he has worked 10 years for Mossy. (has to be some kind of a record considering how bad car dealerships treat their own sales reps.)

Originally ordered on Jan 15 (first day) Changed color and gave deposit on 1-17. Mossy's (second official order I was told) Recieved confirmation from Nissan 2-18-02. Mossy collected the money from the charge card same month. Only other official info came with our Nissan July 3 packets

KG-It sure would be nice if I KNEW about by Daytona Blue

Ah...Mossy Mossy Mossy...i myself got one of the 2nd preorder slots from Mossy in Houston, Tx. Our "Z" guy is fairly knowledgable and this is what he told me. Apparently, the order will not be "faxed/given/sent/etc." to Nissan North America (NNA) until ~August, after all the real preorders are sent to Japan for production. Only then will we receive a confirmation letter etc. However, production won't take nearly as long as regular preorders since the car will already be in production. So we should receive our set of cars ~Nov-Jan. Thats what I've been told neway.

I was just spending some time reading all those massive posts regarding "don't call NNA" etc. Then I just read the last posts to this thread... and from post to post I'm swingin madly from being calm and patient to wildly confuddled. But before I start pinging on my dealer (who knows nothing ) or NNA ( who's annoyed at us ) I'll try and see if ZISME will answer this post since he unfortunately seems to know the most on this board...

ZISME do you have any information about what exactly was Mossy's second pre-order? Is it part of the original program and should I be concerned if I ordered on June 23rd, i.e. was there a cut-off date for pre-order allocations? Can you confirm ZThang's post? Approx. when will the second pre-orders receive their confirmation letter? There... I let it all out... whew.

I apologize for being such a bum about this... I just feel like I'm wandering in the dark (just like a lot of us) and even more so cause I hopped on the bandwagon so late in the pre-order game.

Default Mossy El Cajon

I ordered my Z in May through Mossy in El Cajon. They cashed my check about two weeks later. I received my package with cards at the same time most of the other posters did. I have heard nothing from Mossy, though I haven't called them yet. I probably will wait until late August, then call them about my order number and not wanting the license plate holder, etc. I'm guessing a mid-November delivery right now.
