Default About to test drive a Z tomorrow.

Hello everybody, ive spent my last couple days on here constantly learning alot of new info. Ive decided to settle with a 350Z as my next car, reason being....cause its a ****ing 350Z. ok, so tomorrow im going to a couple dealerships to test drive a 2003-2004 Z despite the recalls and all that. before i were to buy one id make sure i get a report on everything that was done to it/carfax/ wether or not the recalls were fixed. most likely itll be a AT. just cause i plan on driving it everyday, and here where i live there are numerous amounts of hills and stop/go traffic thatll be hell on a clutch, (i learned from my del sol) so is there anything i should be aware of besides tire wear caused by feathering, grease streaks etc.? im pretty excited. ive been wanting one for awhile but now have the money for a down payment. so any information would b appreciated. and also for the hell of it, i wont be picking one up tomorrow. just test driving it and checking it out since ive only sat in them twice for about 10mins+ each . and i still have to sell my 98 ranger thanks and hope to here some pretty "informatic"(<-- is that a word? lmao) replies.

Just make sure the Transmission is good... Listen for grinding as you go thru the gears, as the Syncro's seem to be the week spot on the 03' and some early 04' models.

Have fun

yea, the tranny gind shouldnt be that much of a problem being itll b an AT. but yea. ill love it. i plan on kepping the mods pretty mild after i get it. i want to enjoy it as a sports car like it is. id like to get an Enthusiast so ill have the LSD but if i dont ill buy an aftermarket one and have it installed by a professional (any recomendations?). and ill just install a JWT popcharger and Helix Test pipes for now. my original list of mods included like TD borla exhuast injen intake dc headers and alot of other things as well. but after searching i see alot of owners say its a nice car being NA but they would of saved their money for a FI setup if they started over. so after those two mods ill look into a Stillen Stage 1 supercharger maybe. im not sure.

Hope everything goes through nicely for ya, and you come home with a 350Z. Just be prepared for all the haters, we seem to be the main target among all other car owners out there. Just read my sig. But don't let it get to you, and be proud of the Z!

i got another question, i plan on getting an AT Z but was checking somthing out and wanted to know, if i get an 03 Base model or Enthusiast and it has a warranty still on it, does it cover tranny problems so i could take it back and get it checked out, or are all the warranties up already. sorry if its not clear but id just like to know. thanks in advance.

Powertrain (Engine and Transmission) is coverd with a 5/60k warranty, the rest of the car is 3/36k So you'll be good... Besides i've yet to hear anyone have a problem with the Automatic Tranmission...

The Base and Track trim levels do not come in AT, only 6MT. I'm not sure about the Performance trim.

If you want AT you will be far less likely to have transmission issues.

honestly, i want an 03-04 5AT 350Z under the 20grand mark to be brief, being theres plenty around that price range where im located, id like it to have the recall problems fixed like the feathering and window problems really. miles arent that crucial being i will drive it everyday regardless of weather. and i wanted a base model but since they only come in the 6MT as ive looked ill be looking at an Enthusiast hopefully, so i can still have the 5AT and LSD.

EDIT: if i were to buy from a private party, would the warranty still be good?

Yeah.. def go with M/T if you have a choice. The only reason they put autos in these things is so people like my wife can drive them.. hence the reason I got the M/T.
