The DISADVANTAGES of convertibles (in general)?

Old men and women own ZRs.
theft, haters having something else to aim at then just keying and slashing tires, lol @ ugly peeps that cant hide in a vert, extra weight, extra drag, extra noise w/ top up, just one more thing to repair if it breaks. This is just some things I tell myself about the S2000 that will keep me happy w/ the Z.

But anyone can die in any car, lots of people die each year from roll overs in SUV's, Sports Cars, etc... True your odds are better if your not in a convertable but you can still die non the less....

You might end paying slightly higher insurance for a vert for all the obvious reasons.
I did enjoy driving the two vert 350's I've driven. Quite pleased I was one of the first to drive the very first '06 350 (of any type) that was bought into NZ, just happened to be a silver vert.
Slightly lower tortional ridigity than a coupe. Almost worth it for the wind in your hair.

I used to own a 350 coupe and sold it after a year because I missed driving a convertable. Picked up a ZR and absoluetly love it. I live in Utah and it's my only vehicle. I really should get something for the winter though, heh. I havent had any issues with any of the tops and if you think driving the Z is fun top up, nothing beats dropping it on a nice day (even some not so nice) and taking off. I'm suprised how many people tell me "I've never ridden in a convertable before".
I can tell a bit of difference in preformance but not much the looks I get and feeling of freedom as you cruise is something else. I would have a hard time going back to the coupe
*Edit*
Oh, Disatvantages!
The small trunk space and lack of room in general is about the only real issue I have. I'm single though, without kids or even a dog so it's manageable. Not that the coupe would easily fit a body in the back anyhow but it does have more room.
Even in the winter the temperature inside is fine, turn on the heater (and the seats!) and you wont even notice a difference.
There does seem to be more road noise with the top up, espically if you have stock tires, (maybe since mine is an 04' it was just the tire growl) but it was pretty loud. Top down of course is loud. You can use a hands free cell device though if you get the right one and roll up the window for a bit, few suggestions for that on the Roadster forum here.

Convertible cars....
my opinion why not to buy
1. you will have the top down less than you think!
2. have to replace your top in future
3. your top will look dirty after a few months all the time.
4. ALLOt of added weight!!!!!! like 300+ lbs
5. warrantee, dosnt cover it, you can guess why.

This incessant bashing of roadster owners is starting to get annoying. I can't say I've ever heard ZR owners do the same. Why? because we have respect for both cars (I've driven both).
