Shifting changes with temperature because the fluids viscosity changes as the temperature changes. It is very hard to design something that works on hydrodynamic principles to function the same way across a wide temperature range.
But I agree, the Z has a pretty nice transmission. I personally love the slight notchy feel that it has. Just feels beefy, and you definitely can feel when it goes into gear. And you can shift it hard when you want to, or you can just apply that little pressure and wait for it to go into gear.
I've driven other MT cars that you couldn't even tell that anything was happening because it would just slip in and out of gear with the slightest touch. Just not my preference.

I'm on the OEM fluid btw. I guess most people changed fluids to eliminate the notchiness feeling. I just disliked 2nd, 3rd, and at times 4th, where I would feel it hitting a tooth or two during shifts. But a really good warmup changed all that. Like the member stated above, I too like some effort putting it in gear, along with a really smooth entry.
I was amazed, since this was the first time in over a year I would experience such shifting; true, it's not oinly my first MT car, but sports car as well. Probably means nothing to you guys who've been driving MT for 10+ years lol
I can understand

I've been driving manuals for decades, but I've had to get used to this tranny, probably because the gears are so close together. It seems very smooth when you shift at first opportunity(low speeds) yet is a different beast when you are going for full acceleration. I've only had it for 3 weeks so I expect it's 2 faces will become more natural with time.
