OK, explain this to me... I recently bought another car for commuting ('93 VW Fox). Picked it up for $350, only 100k miles, has a lot of life left, and I don't have to worry about rock chips, door dings in the city, etc. I just got off the phone w/ my insurance (State Farm) to insure the VW and change the way my Z was insured. So my Z is now considered a pleasure vehicle, <7500 miles/year, full coverage. It costs $550 every 6 mo. The VW, liabilty only, costs $500 every 6 mo. WTF? I have a clean driving record, no accidents, etc. The insurance agent is looking into this for me right now, because this just does not seem right at all. But anyway, if you want to drop the insurance of the Z, pick up a second car. Mine went down from $810 to $550.

^the cost would trickle down to you, especially since Z's arent a very large market.
I was thinking of pickign up a cheap civic, but it might cost a lot to insure. Now im gonna start to look for domestic cars since they do have a record of being cheaper.

First off, this "list" is BS. some of the info as far as how vehicles are rated are correct. however the actual vehicles listed are not at all true. as would be logical, the most expensive vehicles to insure would be the most expensive ones. your exotic supercars (ferrari, lambo, etc) and high end lux (rolls royce, phantom, etc), however you can't insure those through GEICO, Progressive or any of the mainstream insurance companies. but if you are talking about the mainstream, then the most expensive to insure would be your euro and japanese luxury brands (bmw, mercedes, lexus, etc). there isn't one of those brand models that is cheaper to insure than a 350z. most insurance companies subscribe to a yearly vehicle rating database put out by the Insurance Safety Office and they use that as a guideline for rating vehicles, some insurance companies come up with their own ratings based on the statistics, but they will all come up with nearly identical lists of which vehicles are more expensive to insure and the 350z isn't one of the top 10. **** its not even in the top 20.

IF it weren't for the jags the mercedes and maybe even the lexus i would say that maybe they p ut some type of price cap on the cars they researched.
