Default What would you do in this situation ?

I just brought in my 06 Z for a oil change. I had an appointment for 10:45 and arrived at 10:40 and had to wait for about 20 minutes befroe i saw a service writer . I asked for a car wash to make up for making me wait and they said no problem. I wait about an hour for the oil change and car wash . They parked my car and another Z all the way in the parking spot and the bottom of the front bumper ( the black trim at the very bottom ) was up on the curb and is now scatched and a little frayed , as scraping plastic on concrete will do . I showed the damage to the service manager and he asked what i want done about it . I asked about replacing that piece and he told me it was part of the front bumper and they can't replace the bumper for that . So he gave me his card and told me to call him with a suggestion to resolve the situation. Now im not sure what would be proper compensation for the damge . What would every suggest i ask for ? After this i think i will go to another dealer for my servicing. This was done at weston nissan , where i bought the car not more than 3 weeks ago .

Photos would be helpful.

The black trim on the bottom of the bumper is a “spoiler.” I have seen 350Z owners remove them. If you are picky, get a new spoiler. If reasonable, don’t worry about it: its next to impossible to drive the car for 10,000 miles and not damage the spoiler.

Don't let it bother you man S&#t happens. I would ask for a few oil changes though, that spoiler would have gotten scuffed eventually anyway.

Dang man, you're hardcore. You asked for a free car wash for making you wait 20 minutes?

Shoot man, don't sweat it. I scraped mine...then replaced it.....then scraped it again. Screw it, not changing it again. Better it than the front bumper!! I wouldn't take it off as it works nicely as a safety device in protecting the bottom of the bumper.

I brought my moms Altima in to replace the sunroof seal becuase it got cut from rough metal. So the dealership called and said the parts were in and that this would be an all day event. I drove an hour up there. Get there and waited for an hour and the service guy comes out and says "well your cars done" and I'm thinking "wow that was quick" and the guy says "yeah, but theres a little problem, we ordered the wrong part for the sunroof."

So I'm a little pissed and understand that stuff happens. The service guy gave me a free oil change and touch up paint. I was thinking my dad really wants one of those Z license plate frames, but he doesnt want to pay $35 for one. So I asked the guy for a frame and he comes back with one. Ended up getting around $70 dollars worth of free things from Nissan that day. Not bad I thought...

Never hurts to ask

First of all, don't be so **** about that little piece of plastic, it's there to get scraped so you aren't scraping your actual bumper. You can take it to any Nissan dealership to have service work done. Try to get some floor mats out of it or a free oil change or something like that.

As mentioned above, relax you just havent had the car long enough to find out your going to scrap the spoiler eventually, and properly often, you should see mine.

1 Word....

Lawsuit!

J/K - I don't see why they can't replace it as others have been able to replace theirs? Maybe someone could explain why for sure, but I would check w/ another dealer to see if it is at least possable. If it is and he told you it wasn't I would be very mad. If they say it isn't possable also.... I guess oil changes would be alright seeing as you are going to have to get them anyway.

I think the spoiler is just an add on by the way, they won't have to replace the whole bumper...

Free oil change sounds allright...

It really depends on the extent of the damage, but it was good to let them know what happened (in hopes that they will be more careful in the future)....not likely though. If the damge is substantial and it will bother you to know that it's there than you could tell them that you will contact your insurance company to handle the matter w/ them.
