Default toughest choice ever!

Hey guys, i'm new to these forums and i have one of the hardest decisions to make. I'm buying a car in the next week and i'm trying to decide between a 2004 g35 coupe and a 2004 350z roadster, i saw the 2006 350z roadster and it was sikkk, i'm wondering if anybody can tell me about the differences between 2k6 Z and the 2k4 Z, also does it drive better then the G35, i'm gettin stick btw

Any input would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

but how does the 2004 350z compare with the 2006 350z, is the body different, howabout handling, suspension, performance?

Try posting in the roadster and/or g35 forums.

Honestly, I would easily take a g35coupe over a ZR. I don't dig the ZR's at all. If I wanted another vert sports car I would have an s2000. JMO though.

2004=287HP but more torque, 2006=300hp but higher top end/heavier car, not really a fan of zr but looks good if fixed up right

+1. Some cars are meant to be roadsters... and the 350Z is not one of them. Just my opinion of course, but I would definitely either buy the coupe Z or an s2k if u really want a roadster...

The 350ZR with FI is an awesome car. I get as much attention in my 350ZR with FI as I ever did with my MB SL500. So if the other posters are correct then it must just be my good looks

As to your original post. Two totally different vehicles. Is this going to be your only car? The G35 is a much more practical car and actually has a trunk. The ZR is best as an extra fun car with almost no trunk to speak of, but a blast to drive. On the other hand, everyone should own at least on rag top in their lifetime.

I drove the S2000 more than once, but I found the noise levels were intolerable.

It IS amazing. Coupe owners who dis the ZR are like Aesop's fox, who said the grapes he couldn't reach must surely be sour.

The 06 has different wheels, a modestly-upgraded interior, the HP (more) vs. torque (less) trade-off described above with stick, LED taillights, upgraded headlights, slightly larger standard brakes, faster nav, radio buttons on the steering wheel, and a slightly different grille. Bodies are essentially the same. Best to get an 04.5 if you go for an 04. Do a search here and you'll find the VIN number where 04.5 mods went into effect.

Looks are subjective, performance wise there pretty close, awhile back someone posted that the ZR has lower gearing to make up for its extra 200 lbs of weight, so its 0-60 is close to the coupe, but the coupe will pull ahead at the 1/4 mile mark and keep pulling ahead as you approach 100 mph... <--- although at higher speeds aerodynamics are playing a big part in it..

If your all about speed then I woudnt even suggest a 350z as a EVO, STI, SRT-4 are all faster cars for the same amount of money or less... There just not as good looking...

Personaly I wouldn't trade my 350z Roadster in for anything short of a Viper Roadster... But being my 350z Roadster coast 1/2 the price of a Viper Im more than happy with what I got.

As far as your orignal question goes, the G35 is more practical and more comfortable for long drives but I gurentee you that you will have a bigger grin on your face driving the roadster

On a side note, i've own my Roadster for almost 2 1/2 years and I've never had a negative comment about it, only praises about what an awesome looking car it is.. Only negative comments i've ever heard about it has been from 350z coupe owners, go figure... Keep in mind tho that a lot of younger guys view Roadsters as being in the same catagory as automatic tranmission, there not ""Manly"" enough in there opionion...

i personally would take the g35 over the roaster. Dont like ragtops, ive had one. They all eventually leak water and let in road noise

I would go with a 06, I had a 03 and traded it in for an 06 because I loved the minor changes.
I also like the roadsters, the ZR is nice.

It's a Roadster of course its going to let in road noise...

Ill say this, if you don't plan on driving with your top down atleast 90% of the time I would definatly go with the G35...

In all honesty the 350z Roadster is more of a second car to have fun on the weekends with, if its your only car then its gonna be tough as there's not much trunk space, but if you already have daily beater then the Roadster makes a good fit..

Roadsters look great with the top down, but in toronto you might not have that opportunity as often as we do down here in Cali.

If the toughest decision you ever have to make is between a sports car and sports coupe; I would say you are doing OK for yourself.

With that said, make the decision. We can offer our input all day long on whether WE like the G or the ZR, but at the end of the day, we don't mean $hit. Buy what YOU like better...

Generally speaking, the 04 and 06 Zs are generally very similar; give or take a few items such as LED Tails, etc. Performance, handling, etc. (i.e. the important stuff) are not going to feel different between the years.

Dude, what you had was a bad experience with a roadster. I have had 3 and not a leak yet. As far as road noise is concerned that is part of the deal with a roadster besides the coupe has alot of road noise too.
