so im 20 and my dad gives me **** about washing/waxing my car like every 1 or 2 weeks saying that it will attract too much attention and all this other bull****...so im like why would u want a beautiful car like the Z to be dirty..why would u let me have a Z then? see i live in plano, tx...a place where u see porsches, MB's, lexus, BMW, and many exotics so often that it's commonplace...and he's complaining about a Z. I just dont understand it..I mean I know it could attract negative attention but still it's ridiculous.

he paid for the car straight up...but it was in exchange for good grades..so grades = $...but still even if he did pay for the car...why wouldnt u want it to be clean and operating at its best? bc i def would not want my car to depreciate fast...i want to keep it at its best at all times

Don't wash the car for a couple of months. Then ask:

"Dad can I borrow your car? Mine is filthy."

Well, he is right about one thing: a car is just a car. Metal, plastic, and rubber. It can be replaced... other things in life can't.

However, that being said, since you do own a good looking vehicle, why not spend the extra 30 min per weekend to keep it clean. It should be the other way around; He should be grinding you for not keeping it clean. Sounds a bit off to me.

Wash her, wax her, get laid 'cuz of her, and enjoy it.

Personally i am always on my kids to wash their car, but they never do They just kinda smile and ignore me.

People are complex. It might be interesting and perhaps useful to you if you could really have a _discussion_ with your dad about why he feels this way. eg. not an argument over washing the car. You both might learn something about each other. But realistically I understand that talking with your parents is not always the easiest thing to do.

Then you will become a parent and discover that talking to your kids is not always the easiest thing to do.

One thing we can learn right now is:

Does your dad keep his car clean and shiny or does he wash it "at least once or twice year or after a long cattle drive"?

IOW, is this his attitude about your family cars in general or just your car?

dude, tell your dad ill trade kids.(jk) i have a straight A grade student as my boy, he just turned 15 this year and it took him over a week to clean his new 330Ci we bought last week. I bothered him to go detail it,... Get to know it, and tell me about it.
Tell your dad, you are taking ownership and with ownership of a fine automobile, you take pride, and besides that,
tell him how much you are thankful, and im sure that will turn his head and maybe give you up a smile.

Is he being serious whe he gives you crap about washing the car often, or is he just picking on you?

If he's just picking on you and having fun, don't worry about it. Just share in the laugh and go on with your washing. If he is being serious, you need to talk to him. I can't imagine what kind of negative attention washing your car brings, but he obviously thinks something bad will happen. You need to find out what he is talking about.

Nope. It gets left outside every night so I'm not wasting my time washing it so that it can get dirty/rained on in one day.
