Is the Z contageous?
Might have spelled "contageous" wrong...but anywho...
one of my collegues told me today that him and his wife walked out with a brand new 06 interlagos fire yesterday. He said he didn't really think much of the Z, until he saw mine parked at work everyday. It grew on him, and to a point where he had to get one. So he did.
I've also heard that there are so many Z's around now that people don't want to buy them anymore and just be an "average joe".
What do you think? Obviously people here are biased, but where do you think the "Z-fever" will end, if there's going to be an end? Keep in mind that the Z is still in production.

I think it is. I've had the only Z at the base network control center. The other day one of the Airman comes in my office asking if I still had Borla TD and is for sale. I told him I sold it in Feb. I asked him why because I know he owns a Celica GT. He says "I keep looking at your Z everyday, so I found an 03' with 67,000 miles for $18,000". If a person at his level is willing to shell out the dough for that many miles, it must be contagious.

I guarantee you it is. At my old job... just me getting the car annoyed some people. One of the older guys had to attempt to show me up and go buy one himself not even a week later... in the exact same color no less... except it had a slush box and he had an ugly bra put on it. Damn posers.
Your colleague will have a long way catching to your mods.

For $30k you really can't find another sports car that gives you everything the Z does... True you got a few out there like EVO and STI that have a little more performance but they lack the sex appeal that true sports cars have...
For me a sports car has to have these 3 things
1) Speed
2) Handling
3) Looks
Only the Z has all three in the $30k price range
If you prefer buying used cars you can't beat a used 03' Z with low miles, you can usally find them for around $21k

I was just thinking about how many MORE Z's I see on a daily basis now...case in point:
In a 15 mile stretch of road going to my house, I spotted 1 DB Z, 2 CS Z's and 1 Redline Z.
I think a LOT of people are picking up used '03's...now that some of the leased/purchased Z's are returning back to the dealer's lots.

Yes they certainly are:
1 person in my building complex, another in the company's next-door parking lot.
And probably a few more on my vecinity, 'cause I've seen several more on my driving routes ever since I've gotten mine (before that I never saw one in that area).

Let me tell you guys about my situation. I live in a little town called Sammamish; it's close to Seattle. Eastside suburbs, lots of people (well, virtually everyone) working at Microsoft.
The most "common" car you will see here are BMW's. LOT'S of Porsches, Mercedes, and recently Lotuses. I've seen other exotics too, a few Lambos, Ferraris, etc.
Anyways everytime I park my Z around people, I always get compliments. There are less Z's than Porsches to be honest with you. It's really freaking crazy . . . people don't know what car I have lol they think it's hella nice looking. Most kids don't believe that this car I got for 25k hehe. They think it's over 30k in terms of value.
At the end of the day, I love my Z more than any exotic I see on the road.
Peace

I wasn't really that crazy about the Z when it first came out. I mean, I knew it would be a nice, performance oriented car for not much $$, but to be honest, I wasn't crazy about how they look. I still think there are much better looking cars out there, but after 3 years the new Z has grown on me to the point that I'm almost obsessed. For crying out loud, I come on here to talk about the car that I don't even have yet!!
So yes, it is definately contageous.
And, granted, I don't really live in a good area of town, but there aren't alot of Zs around here. On the other hand on a recent trip to LA, you couldn't turn your head without seeing a G35 or a 350Z.

Thankfully still not that many 350's in New Zealand. I can often go a whole week without seeing another 350, unless I go into the central city then I might see 2 or 3 in a short space of time. I guess here at least they are still something that evokes a lil bit of mystique, people can never resist coming over to say hi and ask about the car, power, handling etc.
There are heaps of Skylines, Silvia's & 300zx's in NZ and people still clamber to get one, even if it's a bit past it's used by date. So maybe our 350's will be the same in another 10 years time.
