MY TURN !!! got my Z today ...
Okay, its my turn now. Got my Z today (Mar 1, 2003).
Place of purchase: Bankston Nissan - Lewisville (TX)
Price Paid: $500 less than MSRP
Model: Touring, Lemans, Orange, Auto, NAV, Aero (actually, all options except for side air bags and splash guards)
Miles: 8
Salespeople: 1) Victoria Neave - Internet contact
2) Kenneth "Walker" Laird. (He was VERY kind, knowledgeable, and friendly). ***** 5 Star Rating *****
My story: Placed my order on Sept 11, 2002 after giving my $1000 deposit to Bankston Nissan - Irving (TX).
Did this after my 94 Firebird finally blew its engine after 149,000 miles. To get me by until my Z arrived, I actually had a friend give me a junker car that he was about to give to charity. It wasnt running at the time and I put $600 into it to get it going. Anyway, several months ago my "check engine light" started coming on in the junker and will only go off at high RPM. The car tries to die anytime Im in reverse and most anytime Im stopped. Ive since mastered driving with one foot on the gas (for RPM's) and one foot on the brake (to keep from slamming into the guy ahead of me).
In Feb, I went back to Bankston Nissan - Irving to see if they would be willing to give me a Demo car (even a junker) until my Z arrived. I told them I didnt think my junker would last that long. (After all, as I pointed out, my car was originaly promised in Dec/Jan...and now late April). When they said "no" I knew I would have no guilt leaving them for another.
Two days ago I got an email from Bankston Nissan - Lewisville saying they had exactly what I was looking for at MSRP (actually, it had everything but side airbags and splash guards). I told them that since I had one on order due in April EXACTLY as I wanted, the only way I was willing to deal was if they would discount below MSRP. They made the offer and I accepted! (The fact that it was end-of-month worked in my favor also. I gave $500 credit card deposit on Feb 28 to "hold it" and had to show up at the dealership before noon today).
The internet is a wonderful thing indeed.
In a sick-o kind of way, Im actually now looking forward to my trip back to the Irving dealer in my new Z to get my $1000 deposit back.

Congratulations!
The AT is great and you will love it! I find it wonderful, especially in city traffic.
It is this snow rage that is killing me!
Safe driving and enjoy!

Congrats, I have an auto and love it. These people that rag about autos don't know what they are talking about. Ever heard about a tiptronic in a 911? The Z is no where near a 911 but it is a damn fine car. I've had mine since 11/11/02 and put 5000 miles on it. Haven't driven her in over two weeks now because of the snow. You are in for a treat.

And it's not like we haven't driven automatics ourselves.
I think there are plenty of fine reasons to get an auto. Saying that a manual owner doesn't know what they are talking about... that doesn't fly.

my short driving career
Umm, At vs MT is not just about speed, its about controling your car 100% with a clutch. You feel way more connected to the car and its alot more entertaining. For the people that say they didn't want to deal with traffic you should of bought a sedan
