My wife got rearended in a Protege a couple of years ago. After close examination it looked fine, no chips - a small amount of paint scratch. Took it to the dealer and ended up being $1500 worth of damage under the bumper.

Moral is you might get it checked just in case.

Hopefully you will have no issues.
