2003-2009 Nissan 350Z

I'm just curious as to what grade of gasoline you use on your 350Z

The Higher the Octane, the more "Stable" the fuel is and less likley to detonate early.

No... the static compression might be lower for forced induction but the effective compression can still be high.

to the OP, dumb question. If you dont put premium in your z, then maybe you can't afford the car.

That was pretty rude. (May be true, but rude none the less).

Exactly. HUGE cylinder pressures are experienced on FI cars. The higher the octane you run, the more power you can extract from it with boost, timing, and fuel curve.

Heat also plays a huge factor with detonation. My 350 is basically stock, so 91 on the street is fine, however, I have heard it detonate on a hot day while stuck in traffic and going up a grade. If it was on 87 or 89, this would occur more often. That's also why I run 100 octane at track events. The last thing you want to worry about is listening for detonation. The 100 octane keeps everything in check, and is very cheap insurance.
