Default Sponsorships.

Have any of you thought of getting your car sponsored or already have your car sponsored? Even though my car is bone stock, a lot of people are telling me just because I have a 350Z that I could get a sponsorship easily. Now I don't want to get one as an easy way to getting money to hook my car up, if the new look my car is gonna get is completely up to the people sponsoring me, catch my drift. I don't want to get screwed over and have a souped up car that runs beautiful but is completely purple or neon green because the execs. think it's something new that has never been done before. I also don't want them taking my car and not be original and go put a turbo, exhaust, and a 500+ hp engine and think it will get magazine coverage. I want to know if i'm completely wrong and that they give you leverage and let you pretty much create an idea and they run with it. Does having your car sponsored mean you pretty much handed the title over?

i would think that if you dont have something unique to your car already you wont get sponsored... there are plenty of Z's already out there in the scene.

Sponsorships are almost always termed...in other words for x years you must attend x shows/races/events, etc. IMO if you want a sponsorship go a a shop that is good and reputable (sp?) but could use more publicity and a project/showoff car. You'd save a ton on labor and would probably get parts at cost plus a little. One of my best friends owns RevLimit in Birmingham, AL and I'm one of two cars he's doing. It works out well for both of us since his shop is new. Just a thought

That's what I was thinking, but I have a friend whose uncle owns a 67 Cobra. His uncle just started a powder coating company in Iowa and completely powder coated the Cobra. From rims to valve covers. The Cobra is the show car and is already beginning to start business. Before the business opened though nothing was done to the Cobra.

You could send a proposal to companies, but if your car is stock then I dont think they'll invest in you. Good Luck.

funny bubble, Sponsorship is something that takes a ton of time. You have to have goals set, shows you plan on attending as well as shows that you previously attended. Your car has to be unique set apart from other Z's so there product will be noticed. In 2003 when the Z frist came out and I got sponsored by Buddy club 2 for the wide body kit the main reason the sponosored my car was because they needed a 350z to use to build the kit so that was there benefit. Then (at the time) my car was unique enough to persue other companies. So I promise you its not easy hearing NO 50 time in order to hear 1 YES. So 3 years later and alot of shows and sweat and a ton of money later, cause once you get the free stuff you still have to pay someone to put it on, my sponsor list ist't that long.

full sponsors
Toyo Tires
Audiobahn
Varad Lighting
Buddy Club 2
House of Kolor
Eibach
Koyo Racing
Meguiar's
Megan Racing
Chaser Aerodynamics

half sponsors
Work Wheels
DNA Customs

But at the end of the day its your car and you have the say so in how it looks.

Hope this helped you out some

only thing a sponsor could give you is some decals. Like bubble said, what else do you need? A asian model perhaps?

Finally! You're the only one who gets me man...*sniff sniff*

The only sponsor I would need would be for a widebody and some wheels...

You're so late to the 350Z game that sponsorship is going to be HARD. Basically, you're going to have to buy your way into sponsorship deals, and you have to come up with a proposal that makes it worth the money they invest in your car. Sponsoring = advertising, so you have to commit to making their product visible to the target demographic.

Start with your bone-stock Z, spend about 15-20 grand, then write up a proposal and start submitting to companies. It'll happen, just keep at it.

did i said something funny?

I get my way to buy part at "cost" so i'm pretty much happy. No string attach. No obligation and best of all, NO DECAL all over my car.

+1111111111..

maybe if you wait for the new redesigned Z, then you might have a chance at R&D sponsorships (but be aware of being the test mule for them)

i think the majority of sponsored Zs were those that got their Zs back in 03 or offered their cars up for product development. Back then the Z was rare and hard to come by.. now they'ere everywhere

but even still, with the car becoming more attainable, their might be a second wind with more products being made, so never give up.

just have a good proposal package-

just to give you some hope, I had modded my Z with a full esprit kit / wheels / and a nice car audio setup sometime in 2004

With the assistance of a photoshop of what the car would look like when done, a 15 page powerpoint presentation and A TON of phone calls and determination, I was able to get several full sponsorships and a few partials.

That is not a real sponsorship.
Do not even bother with them, wasting your time.
You should not have to pay money first to get a sponsorship.........

Like everyone says getting sponsored takes allot of time, and allot of leg work.
You have to network, get names and contacts. You need to go to allot of events get your car out there and noticed. You have to already have allot of work done to the car before you will get sponsored in most cases. You need a good proposal, with good reff.

Not with my Z, but my civic had a few sponsors before I sold it,
Nitrous express - half
bodykits.com - full
wingdoors.com - full
corbeau - 30%

And most of the time you will not get a full sponsorship, you will most likely get half or partial sponsorships.

Most important don’t get discouraged.. For the most part you will get turned down by 95 % of all companies you apply to, just keep trying.

hmmm..when i attended HIN in chicago this past march, i signed up for some car sponsorship thing...and i listed in bold that my car was bone stock witht the exception of an intake.....three weeks afterwards, i got phone calls and emails with companys who wanted to sponsor me for various things. So i dont think you have to already be totally tricked out to attain sponsorship. Just to note, i only did it because like you I was curious. I never went through with it simply because at this stage in my life, im not really into the souped up car thing as much anymore.
