thanx , cause i went to their site and did not see anything. i will try to get it from him. So you do not recommend 3.9 instead of 3.5 ? I have general mechanical knowledge, but i am gonna do the swap with my friend, is it a fairly easy thing to do? i do not wanna mess up anything. I mean other than a direct swap , do i need to do any "adjustments" ? Oh by the way do i need to reset the ecu after the swap?
thanks again for the info

The pumpkins they sell are from 6spd M/T Z's.. He can tell you if it is a base or a vlsd, but not if the person changed the gears inside. I would not install the 3.9 gears, I just think it would be too much for the A/T, I am very happy with the 3.5, you will have to shift a bit sooner and re-learn throttle control or you will spin the tires and bounce off the fuel cut off...

It's a straight up swap, it weigh's about 95lbs. so just be ready for that ! No adjustments needed as far as mechanical... I re-set my ecu every few week's anyway for my other mod's, so it can't hurt and only takes a few seconds.

i see.
so, you said he can tell me if it is vlsd or base, but not what the gearing is, does this mean the pumpkin might be used? So how would that make it "safe" ?
Yeah i am probably going for the 3.5 then and i will reset the ecu.
vlsd would make it better right?
i have the 05 touring , does this include the vlsd?

Yes, you have vlsd and yes, buy w/ vlsd unless you want to install an aftermarket lsd,,, if that's the case buy a base ( open diff )...So you know, these pumpkins are used, the one I purchased had less than 20k miles and have had no problems at all.. I believe "Z U Later" bought one from him also.. brand new you are talking big $... after install, if you are happy you can alway's sell the 3.3 and offset the money you spent.

2 quarts of 75w90 Motul synthetic gear oil is what I used. Noticed tranny is smoother...

do you know what the difference would be with a 85w90 instead of a 75w90?

Your best bang for the buck is a Plenum spacer for $265.00

Hmm so after reading this thread, I got one final question...

The 3.5FD with vlsd improves acceleration at 1st through 3rd and make you lose power/tq at 4th & 5th?

So when I'm on the freeway I wont have as much power at 4th & 5th as I would if I keep the 3.3FD? Oh one of my main question is how is the gas comsumption? The Z kills enough at 25/19...would the swap make it worse?

Just gathering knowledge since I will be getting a Z soon. I just want some minor upgrades.
