Default Mustang GT

Well I was browsing throught mustang forums and came across this thread. I knew they didn't like us but jeeze, is all this hating really necessary? Also I'm not an expert on weight here but is it true that the 2005/6 mustang gt weighs as much as the Z?? I tried to defend us guys in one of the last post, cuz I smoked a GT rather recently when I was stock...good race though....post ur comments/kill stories.....

I don't care if the Mustang GT stock is faster than the Z stock.

The Mustang looks Ugly. I am sure it does not turn heads like the Z does.

I am still surprised to see so many people turn their heads up to 90 degrees to their left to look at my Z when I drive past other cars in the opposite direction. Considering the Z33 is in it's 4th production year.

yea, and its funny how much they talk about the 350z on their forum, its almost like they know the z is a better vehicle and post to convince themselves otherwise.

Well as I said in the other post I have nothing against Mustangs old or new...They are good cars in there own right...Its alot of the owners that make you hate the car because of their idiocy....The new ones, though heavy, can be made to handle better than any of the older Mustangs...So dont automatically assume that it cant handle...heres a pic of the Saleen S281 body kit...I like it...Saw one up close at Captree a few Sundays ago..If I go tommorrow Ill take pics of it...

Maybe your definition of "hating" is different than mine, but I didn't see any hating on the Z in that thread.

Screw the Mustang....The 2009 Camaro looks pretty hot though and just might be worthy of my consideration...

...BUT chances are I'll stick with foreign cars just to have peace of mind reliability-wise!

I like the Mustang. Its been a successful muscle car and its been around longer than the Z. That said, so are some of its idiotic owners. And while overall speed handling have been improved, I don't think it'll take a stock Z out on the track.

Most of the posters talk about from a roll. I don't consider this a race. From a standing stop is a race, which I the edge still goes to the Mustang. Pretty sure they are mid 13-second cars stock form with a good driver. I have seen a couple of people hit 13.6 or 13.7 completely bone stock but the majority are high 13's (13.9) or 14.x drivers.

Nonetheless, I did see a Mustang GT putting some hurt on a couple of Porsche's in a GT cup race a month or so ago...

And just for comparision:

2006 350z GT (Grand Touring):

3.5L V6
300HP @ 6400
260TQ @ 4800
Curb Weight MT - 3404
Curb Weight AT - 3391
Weight Distribution - 53/47

2006 Mustang GT:

4.6L V8
300HP @ 5750
320TQ @ 4500
Curb Weight MT - 3488
Curb Weight AT - 3525
Weight Distribution - 54/46

And I thought this comment was hilarious:

A civic with minor mods will beat both the Z and GT.

I had a Mustang for years, and I was seriously deciding between a 2007 GT and a 350Z. It was tough to make up my mind, but I eventually went with the Z.

The Mustang is definitely faster than the Z, but so what? There will always be a faster car than yours out there.

I am also a member of a number of Mustang forums, and I have to admit the kids on those forums are very unforgiving of "foreign" cars. That's about the only good difference between those forums and this one. You kids may be disrespectful and rude to each other perhaps, but at least you are more open-minded about other automobiles.

I'm still waiting to see if my Z gives me the same reliable performance that I got from my old Stang. That remains to be seen.

So far, so good.

My brother in law owns a 04 mustang gt police intercepter model. I have an 04 350z touring. Both stock, mine is about .5 sec faster in the 0-60 time. Both are automatics. The z is definately a better handling car. But not a fair comparison. A true GT sports car vs an american muscle car? You can keep the mustang, I'll keep my thorougbred!

Yea well if the mustang GT is faster than the Z stock for stock, I guess they have the right to brag....it looks like its the torque that gets us.....ahh well, like you guys said, our cars are way sexier!

Thanks for the comparison Armitage

The Z and the Mustang GT (new generation) are pretty much the same car and for close to the same price. While the Z boasts more twisty action and more finesse, the mustang boasts more raw power in a straight like. There is no "better" car. It depends on who the driver is. If you're into american muscle, then the GT is awsome.

My father owns a hooked up '05 GT and it looks and sounds MEAN. It runs 12.9sec 1/4 N/A internals untouched. It still doesn't handle like my Z though. Just depends on if you like american muscle or imported finesse. He likes american muslce, he chose and hooked up a GT. I like imported finesse and handling, I chose my Z. (In the process of tryin' to pull some $$$ out of my *** to throw on some shoes and drop her though... I can't stand that when our cars are together, he gets 100x more looks than me.)

hehe, you can see my Z in the garage:

You're right mustang never going to handle like 350Z if both fix up for handling. That's why i never try to fix my mustang for handling. It dose the best in 1/4 mile.

Here more pics of my 03' cobra. You can see how serious am i in 1/4 mile with my mustang.
