my intake was my first mod and that was a year ago, the last was my exhaust and that been a couple months if that. yea myzter if it was louder i would say what the hell ill play like i got a stealth turbo hidden somewhere hahaha. I'm not redlining at all, all i have to do is be @WOT for a few short seconds and it does it.

if your a/c is on it could make a noise like that also fans cutting on and off could make the noise or since your last mod was an exhaust it might be a leak, I know borla is a slip fit and if not tight enough it will leak. I see that you mentioned something about having a plenum installed. If the bolts where not tightened correctly you might have a leak there as well and could be making that sound. I would just take it back to whoever did the install and tell them to check all those areas for loose bolts. You should be fine if everything reads normal on the cluster and no lights come on, do you have a rough idle?

no i mean when the a/c blower is on my 06 makes that sound....it is VERY faint . it really sounds like a weak bov. My only explanation is that when the car is pumping out more voltage the blower picks up some speed

It is probably your exhaust pipe under the car. My sentra SE-R does that right now and its the pipe from the manifold to the rest of the exhaust its like a cone shape where it connects to the rest of the exhaust system and the screws that hold it have springs if the spring become weak they make that noise under WOT. It's no big deal either get new springs or a little washer will fix it.

these are all good theories ill try to look into them but man I'm worried that I'm going to breakdown somewhere and then ill really loose it. a/c on or off it will do it. im starting to wish i never got rid of my prelude

Does it also do it while your in neutral and just rev and let off. If so why don't you pop the hood, and have someone else rev it for you and let off, and see where the sound is coming from exactly.

When you got WOT the a/c turns off temporarily. I have heard this from a couple of tuners IIRC. I guess you're hearing it kick back in.

Does your A/C get cold, hot, etc?

I was driving home last night, and actually the last few weeks I've been hearing a similar sound like the one you describe. It happens exactly as you describe it and especially when I let off the gas, and then hit the pedal again. I can hear the noise, but to me it sounds like the valves are knocking. I thought it was due to cheap gas. But now I'm concerned it isn't. When the car is at idle, I rev up the engine and I don't hear it. But when its in gear from 2nd to 3rd, I hear it...it usually occurs when the rpms are at 2000-2500. I experimented and does occur when the engine kind of bogs down or from 3rd gear at 2000. The sound is a quick clacking, but then disappears. Do any of you have this problem. My car is a stock 06 with 9k miles on it.

My car makes a similar noise i believe but i didnt notice it till i put on my test pipes it sounds like you might just hear the added airflow from your intake mods going through your exhaust. Just a thought dont hold me to it lol

try not to relate one problem with another only causes confusion.. unless you can 100% say you have the same exact problems.. i beleive the sound you are hearing is your filter/vaccum.. you can try putting just taking the filter part off and drive it for a quick sec.. make sure nothing is loose around it and see if you sitll hear it.

best thing ot do.. is just do a few times at idle.. and see if you hear it. if you do then its most likely the intake.

Default click, clack sound!!

We'll guys after testing my 06 car with 9k miles...I come to the conclusion that its an axel problem. My buddy has an 05 and had the same problem. I'm going to take it in the dealer to get it fix. I bet there are a lot of Z's out there with this problem, b/c after reading this board sounds like similar issues. Valves clicking, clacking etc.....

I wish Nissan would take initiative and post the recall on 2006's
