Question 350z vs. GTO

Im debaiting on which car to get, the 350z or GTO. i have a eclipse gsx now and i dont know if i want an import or domestic-ish car. If i get a 350z it would most likely be a 2003 but if i get a gto it would be a 2004/05 depends on money

350z: 287 hp @ 6200 rpm and 274 lb-ft @ 4800 rpm/ 3,197 lbs

GTO: 04 350 HP @ 5,200 rpm; 365 ft lb/ 3,725 lbs;
05: 400 HP SAE @ 5,200 rpm; 400 ft lb

please help me decide, its a tough decision for me.

Have you driven either one yet? I had no intention to buy a Z until I was bored one day last March (nice, sunny spring day), decided to go test drive cars just for fun. I drove a bunch of stuff, and went home w/ the Z and my Integra traded in. I really wasn't even sure if I could afford it at the time, all I knew is that I had a blast driving it, and wanted it. Drive the 2 cars, then give us your impression of them both.

I test drove the 05 GTO before I bought the Z. I loved the goat. It had great power (LS2 engine), nice engine sound, and aggressive looks. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that the power seats suck, I'm pretty sure the trunk space was smaller than the G35, and for something with 400hp, it just was too heavy feeling. But it was nice. I think the Z is a better choice becuase of its decent power, smooth looks, crazy handling, and a much more desirabel interior than the goat. Thats just my 2 cents.

Not to mention that the raw power of the GTO is very raw, plus it is a gas guzzler and it handles like **** and brakes are weak for the weight. The Z is all round a great car.

I don't care for the looks of the GTO, personally. It just looks like a sedan to me, I wanted something that really looked like an ***-kickin race machine, so I bought a Pinto, just kidding.

After i thought about it and i have drove both of them before, there is no comparison on which car i should get. The GTO. The GTO looks better, has more power, better interior, and could walk most of the 350z's out there. The only thing that i dont like about the GTO is the handling and i could fix that with a few suspention mods. Thanks anyways for trying to convince me, it didnt really work. I was already leaning heavily towards the GTO. Thanks again

If you really think the GTO looks better you should buy it, you don't deserve to be a Z owner

+1

The GTO is one of the blandest looking cars IMO. Hell, I didn't even know it was a GTO when they first came out because I figured it would look a lot meaner than it actually did which disappointed me.

I drove my friends GTO a while back. Great power but jesus christ it felt so heavy that I didn't even want to try to push it on a turn. He also said the gas mileage sucked and I saw the trunk for the first time on Labor Day and I can't believe it doesn't have storage space in there.

Not sure what this guy considers a good driving experience but I never wanted to drive his GTO again. Hell, I like driving my room mate's Mustang GT over the goat.

Yes, the GTO does have a nice interior. Have you ever been in one?

i love the gto, hell i named my dog after the gto(old school gto, not the new ones), but the new ones, like everyone else says, looks boring. they dont catch your eye unless your looking for them, they look like a 2 door grand prix, i guess they look sleeper-ish, but if he think it looks better, well thats his opinion....................... and i think he shouldnt be driving as he must be blind..

Drive both cars. Decide for yourself. Its a big purchase, I would not want someone else to tell me which one to buy.
