Yes engines are started and tested at the manufacturer for different reasons, but to take one with no miles and just drive it like you stole it from day one is'nt recommended by any means.

I don't know, it seems like all the oil consumption problems are coming from people who said they broke their car in.

During my break in period, I hit 90 a few times but rpms were under 4K.

i didnt drive 100mph for a long period of time, when i hit 100 i immediately reduced my speed, did it twice.

From motorcycles to cars I have read a lot on break in. Almost all of the conclusions were: break it in the way you are going to drive it! I have always done this and had no prblems yet. Most are against this, but do some recearch on other sites and I think you'll see what I mean.

Best to follow the manual but a few blips over 4 Gs RPM ain't gonna screw the goose or your engine.
