Default Can a 1995 Ford Ranger Tow a Z????

This question is kind of off the wall but I just wanted to make sure a 95 Ranger could handel the tow load of a 2,000lbs trailer plus the weight of the 350z. I am headed to Zfest and It's about 3.5 hours north of me and I ain't drivin! lol....Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

Check the Owners Manual and/or Door sticker it should indicate the Max. Tow capacity for the vehicle.

You may find more accurate info on this question over Here... www.ford-trucks.com

It all depends on the trailer and your extra goods too. If you have a very basic Single axel trailer you may be able to pull it off okay.. if your renting one of the UHaul tandems or something similar forget it those things can weigh over 2,000 themselves.

In the end you can always try, but be prepared for a breakdown.

I really doubt itll pull it, im not sure though, 5k+ is alot for a mid size truck to pull. If i remember correctly my dads 2000 ram 1500 had problems pulling the 6k pound trailer.

Something like 4k lbs max for a 4cyl and 6k lbs max for a 6cyl. All I can say is your hitch better be secure!!

good rule of thumb for distance towing...

70-80% of capacity and include in vehicle weight such as tools and people.

I was not refering to capabilitys ----I believe he was asking weather a a Ford Ranger thats pushing 12 yrs old is to be trusted to drive 500 miles round trip pulling 5000 LBs in Florida temps and I had said "he would be pushing it" Old Ford Rangers are notorious for blowing Head Gaskets

I was looking at it from a Capacity stand point since the 1995 Ranger in it's best configuration was 6K lbs, and in the standard 6 cyl setup was 5500.

So with the 3100 lb Z, and the 2100 lb trailer you are almost 100% capacity. That doesn't include people, tools, or whatever else you need to carry (like clothes). Even if this was a new vehilce you would be risking a breakdown and saftey. Now add the age of the truck and this looks like a really bad was to go.

lol NO you cannot, i was going to tow my car up to San Jose H.I.N with my brothers 2005 ford ranger, and the max towing on that thing is 2,500lbs, the Z is like 3,400lbs or something like that, and then the trailer is like 2,000lbs, so if i were you i would do what i did, i rented a f-350 and towed my car up there

My Xterra (V6) has a towing capacity of 5000 lbs and when I tried to get a Uhaul quote for a carrier, they said the Xterra didn't weigh enough to tow the Z on that trailer, so they wouldn't rent me one.

thanks for all the input guys, the ranger idea is no more...lol. what about a ford excursion? my dad has one and i will ask him to borrow it, i think its a 2000 or 2001 excursion....will that do the trick?

i was thinking about a Ford F-250 as well but I don't think hertz/enterprise rents those down here....and i called the rental companies and they said that they don't rent their vehicles for towing purposes......i already reserved the trailor.

The Excursion should have no issues with the towing, especially if it is the diesel model.

Make sure the Excursion has a Class IV hitch. Most Class III hitches only tow 3,000 Lbs. with a 300Lbs. tongue weight.
