Default *Sigh*

So, I wanted to post this earlier but I honestly didn’t have the energy.

I was coming home last Saturday (from Barrie to Toronto, Ontario). My dad and I were cruising down the 401 & 407 back from Barrie Nissan where I just had the NISMO CAI installed (excellent job btw).

Anyway, I had just completed several mods/customizations (the intake being the most recent), when we hear one of the most ear piercing sounds ever. Do you see where I am going with this…?

A rock, piece of metal or some other type of debris was air mailed from a dump truck about 200 feet in front of us. This anomaly struck the front lower portion of my windshield (passenger side, bottom right hand corner area).

At the time, I had a pretty good idea that it wasn’t metal that was hit (just from the sound alone) however, it wasn’t until later that day when I was “windexing” it up, did I notice the mark.

I measured it and to be truthful, it is no more then 3 milimeters across (incredibly small) however, I obviously don’t want to run the risk of it spreading. I have never had a windshield issue before so, I am assuming a place like speedy auto glass should be able to fill it for a reasonable price (thus not having to replace the entire windshield). Again, keep in mind that the mark could not be any more minimal then it is. That being said, I want it fixed.

Has anyone else experienced this? Super frustrating. This was more or less a rant to vent.

Anyway, check the new signature. More to come.

Later guys.

Ps. Insurance deducts are a grand so that is not a factor. I am hoping I won’t have to drop to much to fix this. Need some carbon fiber accents

Some insurance companies waive rock chip repair, I know mine does!

They usually run less than a $100 to repair!

It won't be your last chip or crack on your windshield, believe me. Don't replace it, just get it checked out and filled if neccessary. Some insurance will cover it with no out of pocket cost to you at all.

Risky_Business, standard rule of thumb is if it repairable (if a small chip that doesn't look like it will spread - leave that to the experts to assess), then have it fixed/filled.

I was cruising with one of my Z clubs in NZ and managed to get a stone kicked up off the zed in front of me, smallish 3mm chip, repairable though. Yes you can still see it even after it's filled. But if the repair is a good one, it shouldn't bother you.

Replacing a windscreen or back window in particular is a last resort if the window isn't repairable. As any panel beater worth their salt will tell you, the seal irrespective of how new the vehicle is never 100% again. So go the repair if you can.

Good luck and keep us posted.

i've been there bro.

within a few weeks of picking up my car, she got to meet a 2x4 piece of wood on my hood, denting it and forcing me to repaint my hood...at least it didnt' hit the wind sheild!

but shortly after that, some stone did hit my windsheild Now I have a crack about 1cm long. I haven't been bothered to fix it, seeing as how it's not spreading.
