Default Cold Engine Throttle Response

When my '06 Z's engine is cold or cool, it seems very responsive and fast compared to when the engine is fully warmed up then the engine feels a bit sluggish. Anybody else notice this too? Is this situation caused by the engine going from open loop (if this is still the correct term?) to closed loop operation? Thanks.

I've never noticed that, although I'm aware of the phenomenon. I give mine a good 10-15 minutes of "daily driving" to reach operating temperature before I start ragging on it. How long I warm it up depends a lot on ambient temperatures and how cold the engine is to start with. You really should be nice to a cold engine. To each their own...

Uhhh, yeah. You really shouldn't bag on the engine until its at nominal operating temperature...

Never do. I short shift it and wait for all the juices to be fully up to temp. Even after its warmed up, I don't like to excessively rev it.

I would guess it's mostly due to cooler intake temps. Do you notice that when the temp drops to like 40 or 50 degrees the car has much more power as well? Same principal...

The car runs best at normal operating temperature. Not too cold - not too hot.

I haven't gone through a winter yet with my Z, but I'm amazed that the temp gauge gets up to normal in about 2 miles at 30 mph. This is in the mornings after sitting all night with the outside temperature is high 40's or 50's when I leave. I have never had a car that warmed up so quick. Then the temp needle just hangs out at about the same place. Is this the norm for the rest of you?
