Surveys of this type are very interesting.

Where is the data from?
What questions are asked of owners?
What models are covered?
How is a problem defined? Does a problem cost the owner, say, $10 to fix, or is it fixed under warranty?

I trust the integrity of J. D. Powers, but without a explanation, these are just pretty colored charts.

Consumer Reports also compiles reliability data but at least puts the vehicles into groups.

Hard to believe there can be that much difference between the V8 (+15) and V6 (-82) Mustang.

How the hell is a Jaguar more reliable than a Nissan? They've been NOTORIOUS for extremely bad reliabilty for years!

...and I wanna meet this J.D. Powers fool !! How come you NEVER see him on TV!! Tell him to come to Philly for a beat down! LOL

I saw something like this in '03 when I bought my Maxima, but it was a little more detailed. It broke Nissan vehicles down into US vs. Japan manufactured cars. US was middle of the pack, like Powers' survey, Japan built fared much better. At that time Maxima and Z were only Japanese, now I think the Maxima is here, but the Z still isn't.

Well, 13K isn't enough to make a judgement. These Z's do have problems from the factory. I own a 03 with the factory defective MT tranny. Tire feathering, gas filler tube recall.

These cars are not as refined out of the box as a Lexus when thinking ahead to what problems may occur. I owned a Lexus LS400 before this car and it was one hell of a car. It had over 250K on it when I sold it and it ran perfect. Lexus is the leader in realibility from what I know. The Lex is a overengineered luxury car that is much better than any euro luxury in the same price range easily. It's one hell of a vehicle. Lexus is the real deal, believe it.

The V6 Stang is a POS that should of never been built.

No they're not; they're "sport" models.

I've always wanted a Daewoo or a Kia, but that chart changed my mind.

Yip, can definitely confirm Jag's as being a nightmare for reliabilty. Had an XJRS, only 6 in NZ, that thing on a good service 2k, on a bad one 6k plus. The bad ones were the norm, then when it's off the road, takes ages to get the parts and there were lots of problems with it. Beautiful very classy car, beautifully finished (this was before it became Fordular), extremely brutal power almost makes it worth while, but you'd expect that of a 240k car when it was new.

Okay,

1- I can't believe nobody has ever gotten a JD Powers survey before. I filled one out for my Z about 7 months ago.

2- If this survey had Nissan ranked in the top 2, everybody would be praising it, but since it's not that way, everybody is saying its a big joke.

3- As much as I love my car, the reality of it is that these cars (Z's) have had more than their share of recalls. Plus, don't forget that the Altima's are having a **** load of problems this year. ( it was all over the news about owners having to change their oil every 700 miles or the engine might catch fire.)

4- Some of you people need to learn how to read charts...

Hey Kevin, I'm confused, are you running up the 'BS' flag for my post suggesting that I haven't had a problem with my Z yet?
