You're comparing two totally different cars, as in an entry level sports car to a luxury sports sedan. Sounds like you don't know what you really want to me.
I can personally think of better ways to spend $60k, like putting a down payment/order on a new GTR. But hey, I know it's all personal preference.

WTF !!!!! Rs4 is unbelievable... although why not get something better for the money man??? 06 m3 convertible????? porsche 4x4... or some sports car?? Just a question..
I really don't like sedans or sedan-like coupes that have been turned into convertibles. I just don't like the lines of the car. That is why I bought my ZR instead of an M3 convertible. The windshield sits too far forward. Porsche 4x4 still doesn't give the speed and driving enjoyment or the RS4. The RS4 convertible also isn't available in the U.S. Also, the RS4 is appropriately priced for what you get....420hp V8 with 8250rpm redline. 0-60 in 4.3-4.5 sec. Suspension brakes, etc, etc, etc that don't need modding and a premium luxo-sport interior with real carbon fiber trim. For comparison, my ZR, after all mods, was a $60,000 car. If I had turbo'd it and built the engine to give performance similar to the RS4, it would have been a $75,000 car.
btw which one are u getting? family wagon or sedan??
No wagon in the U.S. Wouldn't get it anyway. I just need a back seat for my kids.

congrats man - you know what you're getting as a former Audi owner, and it's an awesome ride. You also know you don't have to justify the decision to anyone but yourself, so kudos for that too!
The RS4 is an awesome car - better than a Z? Who knows what the hell that means - it's a different car, but it's an amazing machine. Build quality, fit and finish is awesome and the car is quite rare as well. I'm on Audi #3 personally, and with each one, I love em more and more. Started with an '00 S4, then a big V8 Quattro, and now a B6 Avant. They are very well balanced, and very well made, and that's what I personally appreciate them for. They don't do anything spectacularly well (though the RS4 comes damn close for a sedan!), but they do everything very very nicely.
Again, congrats, and def. post pics. Any idea what color?

Adam,
I'll post pics but, as you stated, the car is rare, which also means a long wait from order to delivery. I wouldn't be surprised if wait time is 6 months. I will still actually be a Z owner for a while, so my "Farewell" was probably premature and was simply a result of my excitement over ordering the car. Anyway, I ordered Black on Black.

RS4 is an AMAZING vehicle!...period! It can hang with the best of them, and barely break a sweat doing it. German cars are meant to be pushed far beyond their limits in the autobaun....so driving them here in the states is like a teaser for the motor. Excellent handling, breaking, accelerating, etc....although, for the money, you can do better....but good choice!

I have a B7 S4 as my daily driver and I have a Z as a track toy. The RS4 is an extremely gorgeous and fast car in my opinion. However, I still like flinging my Z around on the track. The 2 cars are not comparable on any level. I actually find the S4 to be a little smaller on the interior then the Z, but the Recaros in the Audi are sweet! Much more luxurious.
