ouch! glad you are ok though!!!

did you accelerate in the corner at all? that will do it...

Its going to be quite a bit of damage $ to fix that... They are probably only going to cover the cost of factory wheels instead of the aftermarket wheels... so you might have to work with the body shop on that....

let me know if I can help....

Thanks for all your replies guys.
I just woke up from a nap and I've calmed down quite a bit.
Hopefully I can get it fixed to how it was before...
Only thing that's really bothering me is the broken axel part...

Lesson 1 completed on how to drive a RWD car in the rain. You failed, but I hope that you learn from it. I don't understand why everyone is saying sorry. Sorry for what?...the fact that you drive recklessly in the rain? I'm sorry that people that shouldn't be behind the wheel of the Z are raising the rest of our insurance rates.

Holy Crapoli,

That happened to me too today....minus the crashing into the guard rail part. I was making a U-turn and wasn't even going that fast when the tail started to spin out and my car did a 180. Next thing I know, I'm facing on coming traffic. Luckily they were a ways off so I slowly corrected my car and drove off. Only thing hurt was my pride. And the knowledge I would have killed myself if I had damaged my 1.5 week old 06 Base.

Was it me or are the wheels that bad? And it was about the first hour of the first rain we've had in almost 6 months.

OUCH!!

At least you're alright. We just had our first rain here up in the San Francisco Area. In the first hour after the rain started I had passed four accidents on the freeway. One of them looked pretty bad with multiple cars. Makes me sort of glad that I drive an AWD Volvo.

Hope everything goes well with the repairs and insurance.

Though it never rained in Southern California?? That's what the song said anyway...lol

On a serious note, sorry to see that happen to you. Hopefully, your insurance covers it completely (That's what you make those monthly payments for, that otherwise go to waste).

Good Luck!

I was in San Jose, when my car spun out. Had just left the San Mateo Z meet.

Saw a flipped car on the 101 and lost of little accidents. Luckily I wasn't one of them.

Sorry to hear about your wreck. Glad to hear your Ok! I have the same tires on my Z and they are not that bad. I thought they would be worse than they were but in the rain, they have held up. (knocks on wood)

Good luck with your new setup! Maybe its time to get a different set of shoes.

www.tirerack.com

There is an option to compare all the different tires of the same performance category.

EDIT: Here it is:

Sucks bout the car man...sorry to hear it...

you could turn it into a somewhat good thing tho...not sure where you wanted to take the car in the end...but you could have the insurance guy get quotes for all OEM parts w/ install...get the check for that...then do some shopping for aftermarket parts that you like better...they usually won't cost any more...in fact, sometimes much less...and then you've got those installed "for free"...minus the increase in insurance you're gonna get...

that's what i'd do...at least have SOME good come of this...
