Actually, that is not true. Nissan has a 3% dealer holdback which allows you to negotiate under the dealer invoice price. By paying $500 over invoice you actually gave the dealer a hefty profit of around $1000 (depending on the model of Z you chose).

Not trying to pick on you or single you out, just want to educate the potential buyers in this thread

About the holdback you are correct there is some more room to play. However if you can get the dealership to let you negotiate into that is another ballgame. that depends on a lot of factors and most managers will not a car go for something under invoice. It does happen but not very often.

yeah $31k seems reasonable. I paid $32k plus all the BS for my '05 touring minus navi, and I'm a bit of a pushover (They say salesmen are the easiest to be sold? It's true with me).

Looking for positive feedback on what you paid is a losing proposition.

If you said the dealer gave you the car free at least 4 guys will tell you they got theirs free AND the dealer paid for insurance + gas.

Dont get me wrong When I buy a car AI want teh best price too. But when a honest salesperson comes arouind and gives u a good price, people come back and ask more thats what pisses me off. Were not here driving around porches...Just saying didnt want a debate

Take it for 31 OTD, they'll do it. If you buy it now they'll put it on for last month and they want to get them out before the 07 come in.

Honestly guys, it is sounding like a lot of folks still do their negotiating in the show room.

Once you step foot inside a dealership, you've already lost the battle. I got my 2006 Base Model under invoice, with free synthetics for life - and never set foot inside a dealership except to sign my papers and pick up my car...

Yeah I'm always skeptical when working with a used car salesman. When I was looking at my 03 Z the salesman told me $21,800 I hagled with him but he never went lower. He even went to see his "manager" but still couldn't drop the price. So I went with it and got the car.

The next day, my friend had a local used car magazine. I was looking to see what Z's were priced at in there. I found an 03 PPW Z like mine. Upon looking at it further I noticed it was the same dealership. I went to my car and got it's lot number....sure enough it was the exact car I bought and it was priced as $19,900.

I took it to the dealership and luckily they cut me a check for the difference. Their excuse? "Oh we have no idea which cars the dealership picks and puts on sale." BullSh!t. oh well I got $1900 out of it.
