Ok guys this is what pisses me off. Yes that is a very good deal. Im a car salesman and I know that it is my job to sell cars. now let me get it through peoples heads that WE DO NOT make a killing on these cars. I dont know what peoples hatred against us are. If you bought that car for 31k that poor sap would make about 100 dollars. I hate people that I tell a low price and its still not good enough. People dont want us to make money. Do i go to your jobs and tell u how to do your job? No i dont. then why do people tell us that. I do not go to work for fun, people think that car dealerships are a non profit organization? We gotta eat too. Think about how many cars someone sells a week. On a good week you may sell 4-8 a week. on a average your looking at 2-5. Now say that I sold as cheap as I could every one, not lets work on this together....whats 100x5? 500$ and after taxes about 430 or so. Thats not that much!!! thats why you never see the ssame carslases man that often casue most of them quit. Sorry to vent at you guys but DAM let the guy make at aleast a little bit of change. You dont go into a resturant and tell then 20$ is too much for steak. If you cant affors the sticker choos a different car.

We should all band together to pass legislation which outlaws indentured car salesmanship. There is no reason people in this country, in this century, should be forced to work as car salesmen!!!

I can't believe you actually compare a 20 buck steak to a 30k+ car. Get real.

BTW, your argument sounds extremely similar to another salesman who posted here not too long ago, trying to fish for pity. Wasn't going to good, especially after another person who knew the car sales industry pretty much proved the salesman was FoS.

I agree with the car salesman...Everything works the same on all levels....thats just like people that buy Z's, and than ask if they can use 87 to save money. Some people complain about dumb ****...If you cant afford the price of a 20$ steak...you go to a cheaper place...If you cant afford the price of a 31,000$ 350z...You go to honda...jump off his back

Salesmen try to read the buyer and get the most money out of them as possible. If that wasn't the case then why don't they just set a non-negotiable price on every vehicle. It's your job to get as much money out of the buyer as possible. If you sell only 3 cars in a week instead of say 8, then you'll try to make those 3 pay more to make up for the fact of slow sales. Why should one person pay more for the same car than the next just so you can put food on your table? This is the reason car salesmen will never be respected. If you don't like it get a new job. I personally think that car salesmen shouldn't even exist. Car companies should set a national price and then leave it and only lower it nationally when the demand falls just like we do for every other product.

Let me get this straight...

It is not in the customer's best interest to get the best price that is available to him/her?

The dealership has selected the most reasonable price with the customers interests in mind?

Sounds to me that saleman need to lobby for better pay from their employers instead of begging on messageboards for people to pay more money for the vehicles they want.

But tell you what, those that agree with the salesman, sleep well knowing that the next time one of you buy the same type of car as I do next time, you will most likely spend more for your car than mine.

Sure everyone wants the best deal. But some people are just ridiculous with how low they want to pay..down right cheap. Im going to look for the best deal possible...but i wont call a dealer a thief if they wont agree with my price...

And neither would I. If me and the salesman cannot agree on a price, then I will try a different dealership. If another dealership doesn't want to sell at a price I'm willing to pay, then I will wait or choose a different vehicle. But the consideration I will not make is whether the particular salesman is gonna make gravy on the deal.

What the OP isn't saying is how new vehicles aren't where the commission money is anyways. It's in used vehicle sales.

This is ridiculous, you're pretty much saying that as soon as the salesman gives you a price for a vehicle we should say "well I guess that's the best he can do to still make money for himself"? Hell no, no way. The customer has the power to not buy the car just as a salesman has the power to not sell the car. I understand car dealerships are businesses and they need to make money but at the same time don't come on here and act like every salesman is trying to give every buyer a good deal.

It's the nature of the beast, salesmen are trying to get the most for the car while the buyer is trying to go as cheap as they can. There is no way that I would pay a price for a car if I knew I could get it for cheaper, that's just moronic.

Then you say "if you cant afford the sticker choose a different car" haha that's hilarious. So you're saying we should pay sticker price for a vehicle without trying to get a better deal? That's insane, if sticker price was the best a dealer could do then they wouldn't need a salesman, you would just walk up to the checkout line and say "Here's my eggs, milk, bread, and my 350Z, oh hold on I have a coupon for the milk." I've got an idea "if you cant live on the salary choose a different job".
