Default hmmmmmmmmmmm

Almost 1000 miles... weigh 152 lbs.. 5'11".... and no wear.

BUT... beginning to hate these seats. My back is perfect... never had a problem..... except now....except after 1 hour.. then my back begins to feel very uncomfortable... and begins to beg for movement and stretching. I have never had this experience before.

Sooooo, even after getting the side airbags.... I am seriously thinking of installing what I miss -- the feeling of my old Recaro. Going to the dealer this coming Saturday....

More later....

I would think the seats would be warranted if they wore out in a fraction of a year or just a few thousand miles! That's ABnormal wear. I would ***** like mad.

Correct. Glad to live in the USA, but born in Tennessee by the grace of God.

7000 miles +, and I have no wear at all at 6'3", 200lbs. Of course, I wear slacks or suits to work and usually warm ups on the weekends, not much for jeans. I wanted leather too, but since Track didn't come with them, I compromised. I love these seats. When they do wear out, I'll just treat myself to leather replacements. . . no big deal.

Default off topic for a second...

.....Speaking of the weight-shift clunking, I took my car back to the dealer to have it fixed and they told me there's no problem with it, but it's starting to drive me crazy--scares people in the pax seat during spirited driving. Do we have a fix yet? Or at least know what's causing it?

A little off topic from the wearing issue, but I've seen pics of the black cloth, brand new, and it looks purple to me. Is it like that in real life? Who cares about wearing if it looks bad brand new?

Its really black with different color checkers, kinda. It looks more charcoal colored in person. I guess its just an optical effect with the inserts...

That thread discusses the solution to the seat clunking. I wanted to get the dealer to fix this when I take it in for my first oil change, but if they refuse to fix it, I guess I have to fix it myself.

Back to the topic at hand, It'd be nice if the seats had wear-resistant, slip-resistant inserts on the bolsters kind of like what comes with Recaro racing seats.

Anyone have a pic(macro) of the cloth interior with the wear you guys are talking about? I've never seen the cloth interior in person.

I'd like to see a picture of the wear on the seat also. I have 6000+ miles and looked closely today and cannot see a problem.

I have figured out how to get in without scraping the seat. I find if I put my right leg in, turn so that I'm looking out the left side and settle in and rotate to front it's like being screwed into the drivers seat.

Now if I can remember not to hit the door panel with my foot.

Just pulled the car out of storage. I drove it for 3 months and it has been stored for 4 months. The fuzz was worse than I remembered. Going to the dealer next week. I have 5000 miles on the car and don't think it should wear so poorly. Here you go.

I have had my car since August 29, 2002.. and with only 5400 miles on it.. my drivers seat left part has worn excessively also..
My father owned a 1992 300zx and it did the same thing.. he also had fabric seat.. after about 6 mos.. (10 years ago) he had a shop replace only the side parts of the seat with leather.. IT looks great!! AND still looks great.. Looking at it you would never know that he added the leather to just those parts of the seat..
THE rest of the seat wears well.. My brother drives the car in LA and he loves it..

Jewelz350,

Do you think the wear is from rubbing on the side bolster when you get in/out or is the wear occurring during actual driving?

I'd say from getting in and out. The opposite side looks fine. I'm having the service department look at it Wednesday along with the tire feathering. I'm going to guess that they will tell me to entry the car differently (you think?). I'm not really sure how else I can get in and out unless I move the seat all the way back each time. It's a shame it doesn't wear better. Not sure what I'll do about it yet.

Im sure you checked this, but are you sure its not just lint that has accumulated on the seats? Its looks like lint in the pics.

What about seat covers? Are there any good aftermarket seat covers available for these seats???

Not lint. It's balled just like a sweater. Yes, i could take a razor to it and remove it but it is rather dissapointing that they aren't wearing very well.

What does that have anything to do with it?
