ahh in the shop again
<--- my stages with my carLast week it was for a crappy window motor
now its in for oil consumption test and rear axle clicking
i love my car and all but it is seriously starting to **** me off like you cant imagine...i know if its eating oil nissan will replace it but damn this is getting annoying....im so close to trading in for an evo/sti/bmw
i know the 07 is comming out and all but i dont like the hood and i dont know if i trust nissan too much.....dunno....i guess im just pissed

Pretty much all Hi performance cars have problems, its the price to pay for a high performance car, if you visit the other high performance car boards (IE Evos, Supras, Subies, Vettes, Etc) youll come to see that they all have problems of some kind. They just dont make cars like they used to and todays cars are much more sophisticated and more complicated to build so the margin of error are higher. Sure the 350Z has some issues, but all in all its a fun car to drive, has awesome handling, alot of aftermarket support, and parts arent as expensive as my 300ZX.

yes engine was broken in properly...this isnt my first car
youre right eddie...theres no such thing as a perfect....its funny tho ...my old 6th gen celica never had any problems....but the Z...just seems to be getting worse....i dunno what ima do...we'll see what happens in 2500 miles

just changed my window motor....if your is warranteed, be thankful...my warranty went out and my window motor broke 3 weeks later. Now that sux! Oil consumption is either from poor design or improper break-in.
I break in all my motors the MotoTune way. Their article talks about motorcycle engines, but this applies to all motors. Never had a problem with burning oil.....unless I put a turbo on the car (my accord - back in 1994). ANd even that's understandable. Do a search for mototune break-in and use this procedure religiously on all your new motors. Its the best way to get all the shavings out of the motor and set the rings correctly. Just FYI

The oil consumption is due to the so called "low friction" piston ring design, they did that to reduce friction and decrease hp losses from friction. The problem with the design is that the rings are really thin and allows alot of blow by if you drive the car hard. This is typical for a Honda as well, they love to burn oil also.

That sucks to hear this coming from a 2006 model. I thought all the window problems were fixed. I just ordered a 2006 base and disturbed to read this.
How much has your Z been in the shop and what for so far?

I have to agree with the oil burning comment. I've got a S2000, and it burns lots of oil when I'm driving it hard. I keep an extra quart in the trunk at all times.

But seriously.. VTEC will eat your oil pretty quick. Whenever I cross over the engagement point in my lude (about 5200rpm), I see a nice little cloud in my rear-view

Exactly. But with a proper break-in procedure, you can set the rings better and reduce this effect. During break-in the rings are being worn down...if not worn evenly (use acceleration and deceleration to break them in evenly) you'll end up burning more oil. Eddie broke it down for you guys....I just put it in english for the noobs. lol

Hey BlackZero6, you've had a pretty big list of hassles with your car, fell your pain & totally understand!! Even that list at the moment still looks good in comparison to the mechanical problems having with my stock (bar rubbish RE040's) Zed. Awful lot of major parts being replaced. It's been off the road for 2 months, sad on a 2 year old car I've had since brand new and it's been properly looked after and serviced.
Looks like you got a Friday zed after someones alcoholic lunch same as me.
