I was just wondering if there was another good service that can tell you the history of a car beisdes just using CarFax. I found a used vehicle and the car fax report just came up with the purchase date and nothing more. Help, please?

You might ****** up the vin. number and run it through most any dealership for any warranty work since new. If the cars on a lot use the vin. to try and locate previous owners, hell they've got nothing to lose telling of any problems. I've actually done that before. Good luck.

i'm sure this is unlikely, but if you bought it at the same dealership where the previous owner serviced it, the dealer might give you some history. other than that, i'm curious what kind of responses this gets too

I'll give you guys the run-down and the situation, it's an 05 touring, Black on Black with Navigation, 9,000 miles. The place I'm looking at getting it from sells low low mileage cars, which tend to be on the higher end side (LExus, Infinity, and so on). I got a carfax for the car and it only showed One record, showing 8 miles when the guy bought it, and thats it. I didnt see anything about oil changes or anything else...then again the car is pretty close to new

Check eBay. Ask in the motor vehicles forum. Lots of professional buyers and sellers there.

THe only problem with carfax is its not complete, what I mean by that is not all body shops are registered with Carfax so if the previous owner had work done at a shop that was not carfax affiliated, you would never know.
Always take the vehicle to your local mechanic who you trust to have checked out and get any extended warranty offered by the dealer. If the the
dealer has a pre certification process ask for a copy of the report and always get in writing any promises made by the dealer.
