Just picked up a brochure today when I took my Z to get my passenger side headlight looked at (lo-beam r.i.p.), and I couldn't help but notice how they "left out" the antenna on the big fold out pic of the silver Z. It's pretty bad when Nissan's trying to get rid of it, too....

The San Marino Blue looks good. I picked up the borchure this afternoon from the dealer (I'm doing this whole thing backwards, I ordered first before getting the brochure).

My arrival date got bumped up a bit, it should be getting here a little before the 23rd. Can't wait.

Actually... it looks like it got a telescopic antenna now.

Edit: I retract my previous statement... after further review of my old 06 brochure I have declared Nissan the king of photoshop and yeah, the 06 had it's antenna missing as well. They are too lazy to even take new pics... they just pshoped em.

So without the 3.9 FD, I kinda doubt that it will lose 1-sec from the 0-60.

That's too bad. I heard another estimate (somewhere on this board) that the 07 should be .2 seconds faster than the 06.

If that's the case, I'll stay with my 06. Of course a smoother, more willing-to-rev engine that does not ping would be nice. As would a stronger bottom-end. But hard to justify trading an 06 for an 07 for .2 seconds.

Why no magazine review on the 07 350z? Must be coming in the Feb '07 editions!

yeah, well it would have been 3.69 gears, 3.9's are still aftermarket. Shows how impressive the G sedan is. Too bad nissan decided their "image" sports car should have the exact same engine power and slower gearing? They couldn't squeez another few horse just to have more than a sedan? I bet it's about as fast as the G until way up high. I'm starting to dislike the 07 more and more.

Sorry for the ignorance but please explain the final drive thing? If the G has an X final drive and is 1 sec faster and the Z has X (what ever the 07 has), what will be the benifit of having a the Z's final drive (if any)? The same engine puts out the sam epower so do u feel more torque but doesnt go as fast? Kinda like a tank gearing VS a helicopter blades's gearing?

Maybe I missed it... any mention of true dual exhaust versus two-into-one?

ncdoc

BTW, in that head on shot of the red Z, the hood looks nice from street level IMO.

3.5,3.69,3.9 or what ever number refering to the final drive gear. the higher the number the quicker the acceleration, but lower ultimate top speed (doesn't matter with the Z's speed cutoff). Really poweful cars are sometimes better with lower gears, unless you're a drag freak with slicks and like shifting alot.
With the Z it would be better to get the higher final drive of the new G. There are aftermarket final drives gears, but it would be nice to get it from the factory.

It's not a definate yet, but looks like the Z keeps it's same gearing.

Just got my 07z from dealership as well. He had to "go look in the back".

No mention of true dual-exhaust but this site, posted by another member:
http://wardsauto.com/ar/nissan_redesign_vq/index.html

says : "To suppress exhaust backpressure, engineers developed equal-length exhaust manifolds that begin a dual-exhaust system that is symmetrical all the way to the exhaust tips."

i'm starting to doubt the true dual exhaust thing because looking at the FAST program for the 07 Z33, it looks like the 07 will have the same exhaust system as the 06's. what makes me doubt this is because the diagrams for the intake and exhaust manifolds look right, but after the exhaust manifolds, it looks pretty much the same as the 06's.

I wouldn't worry. If they have said it will have symetrical exhaust, I'm sure it will. Otherwise I'll sue them for false advertisement.

so with headers and a dual exhuast and the other new engine parts, the engine picked up around 12-15 horse power (if considering the new number is SAE)? It better be huge under the curve. A rev-up with a dual or mrev2 picks up just as much.

Do you guys really think they would make a G sedan faster the the Z? Lots of speculation. Its only a month from now til the new Z comes out so I say lets just wait and if it really is that disappointing for the 07 Z I'd bash it too!!

The different final drive gearing makes sense to me. I imagine the G has lower final drive gearing because its larger and heavier so it would need the extra oomph at the low end to get it to rev to redline appreciably. If they put the same gearing in the Z it would probably spool up too quickly. There is no way the G will be faster than the new Z.

Speaking of errors in publications... in the 07 z brochure, there's a shot of a red z from different angles to show dimensions, but they in the top-down shot, they ommited the seam between the hood and the front bumper as well as the nissan emblem. I was trying to figure out why it looked retarded...

Going to Nissan Today to talk numbers on trading in the 06! I'll be taking my own vaseline with me. My car only has 4600 miles so I'm hoping I won't need the vaseline!
