First of all I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe New Year!
I've been pretty busy the past few months so haven't had much forum time, but tonight I spent the past 3 hours catching up.
Reading through the posts on this thread brought a smile to my face as I remembered some of the first posts to fill my350Z.com back in early 2002. The speculation was just as intense, the search for truth (and photos), relentless. The inability of dealers to answer any questions intelligently, unfortunately, has not changed over the years.
I feel the pain of those that are so patiently waiting for their ordered cars. We who blindly ordered the first set of cars in early 2002 faced issues of dock strikes and so much dealer misinformation that it pushed most of us over the edge on more than one occasion.
My feelings about design changes really don't mean much to anyone but me. My car is a reflrection of what I wanted and I never even think that maybe I should have ordered anything else. I'm sure that all who have ordered have thought long and hard about their decisions and I can almost guarantee you will be happy with your choices. I took delivery of mine in October of 2002 and have never regreted my choices.....I love my Z...you will too
Enjoy the Holidays and savor the anticipation!

But they were all 06's!!! I guess the port still have leftovers still wrapped in plastic!! oh that was the bad news. heh!
Good news Im sorry to say is I bought a 06 G35 instead!! I drove one on the 23th and damn I was sold on getting the 07's but the 06's are the same and they were giving way way better deals on them so I picked up a Laser Red G35 coupe. Picking it up tommorrow!

The 5ATs have 274 lb/ft and the 6MTs have 260 lb/ft (both under the old ratings I believe). The 07 has 268 lb/ft under the new SAE ratings. So really its probably more than both the old engines.

Will the Z have a more aggressive tune like older years, or will it be identical to the G?

Since the G35 coupe stays the same for '07, the only thing that changed are the "new" HP ratings, which are only 5 HP less.
2006 G35c A/T: 280HP@6200 ; 270TQ@4800
2007 G35c A/T: 275HP@6200 ; 270TQ@4800
2006 G35c M/T: 298HP@6400 ; 260TQ@4800
2007 G35c M/T: 293HP@6400 ; 260TQ@4800
The '06 G35 sedan has the same HP/TQ as the coupes
The '07 G35 sedan has 306HP under the new SAE rating (268TQ).
So that probably means that the '07 sedan has ~ +15HP under the old SAE rating (and +8 TQ).
At least the diff btw HP & TQ is almost the same for '06 G & Z, so maybe the new Z might have similar increase in HP & TQ. Hopefully no weight gain :-P

Maybe some people did not have great expectations since the redesign is 2008 or 2009. I've heard and seen what I want in the 2007 so I ordered one. I want the higher redline and acceleration for the 2007 autocross season. I like the new blue color also.
The hood doesn't bother me but I'm not too fond of the wheel sizes on the Enthusiast, 8 and 8.5 widths, so new set of race wheels are needed.

Went to the Nissan dealer yesterday and they only have 2 06s left. They are expecting the 07s in Jan. I got a 07 brochure. I kept asking the salesmen questions about the new car and they know nothing about it. One can could only tell me it had 306hp. He also said there are some new colors. He pulls out the brochure and points to Redline and says that is new...HuH. Look what I am driving from 2003. I am glad we have the forum to learn about the cars because Nissan salesmen are of no help.
