It's all YOUR fault! YOU left the car in gear and YOU didn't buy a house with a larger garage!

The company I used to work for had a BMW dealership with 2 showrooms at an angle to one another. One of the sales women reached in through the window of a nice shiny 5 series and started it. Well guess what - it was in gear and drove itself through one showroom window into the next and ended up hitting a couple of other new bimmers!!

[QUOTE=Blu Hvn]You're lucky! There's a video floating around the internet of a guy showing off his brand new Mustang GT Eleanor, and I think a little kid gets in, turns the key with the transmission in gear and the car takes off through the garage wall! Maybe it was posted here where I saw it.[/QUOT

I saw that vid. It was funny as hell.

Poor Z, but it looks pretty minor. Guess you've learned something and so has your wife.

Yeah, I agree. That doesn't look bad at all. I wish I had the damage you do. Instead my quarter panel took a gash. Atleast you can just replace yours...if you really wanted to.

I'm not sure it'd be worth the money to fix it. :/ I had my front bumper cover on my Z refinished and repainted after a car shipping company did some minor damage to it. Also, the lower plastic (scrape) lip was replaced.

It came out to ~$900. Luckily, it was the car shipping company footing the bill, so I'm sure they lost $ on me.

Yow!

But err, if it's a manual, don't you have to hold the clutch down in order to start it? Seems tough to do that while reaching thru a window.

Good question. It was in England and you don't need to dip the clutch on cars out there to start them because they do not have that safety feature. 90% of cars out there are manual so most people find it harder getting use to automatic!!

I started a car through a window on a frosty morning and it was in gear......drove up the street with me hanging out the window before I managed to stop it just in time very close to a truck. Lesson Learned!

Now, why would you do that, as oppose to going inside, sitting down & starting it?

Simple - I was working at a dealership at the time and helping the valet guys to defrost around 20 cars. Starting them through the window takes less time.
