You mean the window grease streaks? Supposidely no. I don't look at too many newer model Z's, but the ones I've seen don't have it.

2004.5 with 33K.
I had a minor problem with the driver side window not functioning, but it was still covered under warranty.
Just had the fuel hoses replaced as part of the voluntary recall.
No tire feathering issues observed.

Reports of many problems with 03 Z's have been greatly exaggerated by the early wave of "tire feathering" whiners who didn't undertsand the concept of camber and toe. That, and people who've been spreading rumors that they're "bad" just because they've heard of such but don't really understand either.

There's always some glitches to be worked out on first model year cars. No biggie, that's what recalls and service bulletins are for.

I told him there are tranny and tire problems but im asking you guys so he can see for sure. I sent him a link so he can watch the thread. People can be so slow at times. Seriously, if you cant contribute to this thread, why even post. I had a simple question and i get flamed for no reason. You are the actual , my freind.

e-drama aside...

My early 2004 Touring has had relatively few issues - and I bought it used on November 20, 2004.

When purchased, the tires were fairly new with maybe a couple hundred miles on them. I replaced them 11,000 miles later due to the front tires having badly worn inside edges and the rears were getting bald. I believe this to be more of a problem of the Bridgestone Potenza tire than the car as I've changed to BFG KDW2s and haven't had any trouble nor the wear rate. Also, I had the Nissan recall alignment done.

Fuel hose fix was taken care of.

Driver side window motor crapped out, but replaced under warranty.

Other than those items, everything is running perfectly.

My 03' great except for my passenger side window has stoped working once, but warranty covered it...

64k miles... Still one of the best cars I've ever owned, and it puts a smile on my face everyday

I've got a 100k mile warranty through Nissan, so no worries

I have an 03 touring and it has never been in the shop except for the recall for the fuel line replacement. Car is excellent and being that it was an 03, I got a hell of a deal on it when I bought it! Tell your friend not to shy away from the early year production models simply because of those "hit and miss" issues, he may be passing up a good deal if he does. By the way, here is a pic of my 03....................for inspiration!

now after hearing about these "problems" that some have and some do not have, what should one look for when looking to buy a used 03-04? or if this questions has been asked before if someone could point me in the right direction to the thread it would be appreciated, thanks.

If they have them, dealer or private, get copies of all service records for the vehicle.... Make sure the recalls have been done or have them done!
Truly, if the car has been well maintained then he can't miss.

How old is your freind? Has he ever bought a car before?
