Why are 03 and 04 models bad?
My freind wants to buy a 03 z and i told him that there are few problems with the 03 and 04 z models. What exactly is wrong with the 03+04?

Well theyre not necessarily bad, its just that 03's and early 04's all had the "bad tranny syndrome" lol. They also some of them tended to have oil consumption problems. I have an 04, with the newer tranny in there. I also never had oil consumption problems, it was just early problems that hit a few, NOT ALL.

The 03's were the lightest of the bunch, which makes them sorta awesome. Yeah they did have problems but that is what warranty is for.

Tranny problems and tire feathering would be the biggest issues. My 03 has been good to me though, don't have problems with either.

Why would you tell your friend there are probs with 03/04 Z's when you don't know what those problems are?

if you don't know, wtf did you tell him not to buy one?
I bought my 03 used after researching the common 'problems'........and funny enough, I've not had a single issue yet. 59k on the odo.

Not one problem. Never in the shop except for a recall paid by Nissan. No tire feathering. No oil consumption. New front brake pads at 25k. Normal. 30K work done on schedule. Just oil changes. 36K to date. I test drove a 2006 and had no desire to update mine.

Have a 2003 here no tranny problems, no oil consumption problems, and runs great. Only problem I see is the window streak but that is done by Nissan for free.
