I have a few qustions about the much-discussed door that covers the Navigation screen.
1) Has the door been beefed up in newer cars? As I recall, the early pre-production cars had some really flimsy part there.
2) What is behind the door if no navigation system is installed?
Thanks,
Mika

The Daytona Blue basic model at the Blackhawk museum (June 23) had a problem with the Nav door. There was no Nav in that car, but so many people had fiddled with the door, it was essentially unworkable. A Nissan rep stood nearby to tell people, "please don't operate that door, because it is broken". For some reason they didn't want to duct tape it shut or put a note on the door. The Nissan Rep I talked to said that they probably would refine the design of that door before production.
Yes, without the Nav, the door just encloses a small 3 inch deep by 9 inch rectagular compartment that isn't much good for anything. I did not notice a phone power plug in the door, but I imagine you could put a plug in there and hang a cell phone on a bracket in that compartment. Since the door opens up, other items not mounted could fall out.
