kalima275Z, I'm not saying it would be a big deal to compare a stock car with a stock car. For the most part, the threads where the OP says the Z lacks compared to another stock car it hasn't turned out like this. But when you say a STI is more fun (which is just opinion) and faster on a road course, when your STI isn't stock it will lead to flames. That's like me saying my VR-4 is faster then a 360. Doesn't mean they all are and I shouldn't be posting that... Especially on a Ferrari board.

Ill give you the Spec C Type RA-R STI, after that, i dont really know. I think that they are great for rally racing, and have some kick. Ive never been much of a subi fan, espically for the maintance needed on those cars over some others. Boxer engines sure do love that oil. (Porsche has learned this the hard way many many times). Im also going to have to agree, the STI just looks odd. Its very bulky and not very smooth by any means. Thats why ive always loved cars like the Z. The Z very much reminds me of the 944 turbo in a more modern sharp feel. Even with the sti having a bump in power, i think the Z is able to put down more consitant power without the use of turbo. Having been in FI most of my life id say that the Z is a far more stable platform for power and upgrades. Just my thoughts on the matter. The STI is a fun car i guess, id take an evo MR over one of them though. Far better engine that can put down a lot more power with mods.

Stock for stock, I think the Z will beat the STI in many road course scenarios... especially the high speed tracks like VIR, Road Atlanta, Road America, etc. Shorter tight courses such as Shenandoah or Buttonwillow... I'd give AWD the win.

I agree 100% about the styling.

Wow, some of you guys are brutal lol.
To the OP: Thanks for the review, I thought it was pretty informative, especially since you own both vehicles. Surprisingly (and refreshingly) unbiased as well.

I drove the other day a modded WRX and I was not impressed in the least bit. My friends 93 MR2 Turbo felt way better and it was stock. The subaru felt floaty and unglued to the road.

Ive had a 03 bby evo and i still have a 05 gg evo mr. The evo by far outperformed the z on the street and track with performance. On the twistys out in augusta by my house i could stay into the corners at like 70-80mph in the evo and i can barely take them at 50 in the z without the assend walking out. I know how to drive rwd cars, and high hp ones at that. In stock trim with a just a k&n filter and exhaust i ran 12.6 @ 112 in my evo. I eventually put a 2.3 ams stroker and 37r on it with other supporting mods and ran 31lbs of boost making 703hp. Went 9.96 @ 143 with a crappy 1.68 60' on street tires. The best ive went with the z right now with crawford z plenum, invidia catback with testpipes and jwt popcharger, tanabe coilovers was 13.1 @104 spinning halfway down the track. I would love to build up my z like my evo but the cost is just rediculous. The z does handle amazing and i love the car. I just dont see why people are saying the z outhandles the evo/sti because there made to handle amazing with awd, at least the evo handles great from my pov but i have no idea on sti's.
