Default

About 6100 to 6300 RPM. You should be ok...but don't make a habit of shifting into the wrong gear.

Default misshift

If you let up on the gas when you pushed the clutch pedal in to disengage, the rpms probably dropped some before you went into 2nd and you would be well within redline in 2nd gear. If you held the engine at 4k rpm, the way I read the graph in the Z catalog, you would bounce to about 6k rpm in 2nd, which is still well within redline. At least that's the way I read the graph, but someone else may want to confirm my interpretation. If you had it floored, when you pushed the clutch pedal in, the engine rpm may have jumped up and as you shifted to second it could have bounced up to the rev limiter, but I wouldn't think to badly and I think if you did any real damage you would have heard it and know it by now.

Shifting at 4k rpm saved you and its probably a reasonable shift point for normal driving. Keeps you from from a misshift penalty $$ and also greatly reduces engine wear. I am not used to pushing past 6k rpm driving, sounds like the engine is about blow up to me and I generally shift 4k, but push to 5k- 6k rpm sometimes esp in 3rd to feel the VQ pull.

Torque maxs at 4800 rpm and some have suggested in order to keep max torque for each gear, run up past max to maybe 5500 or 6k and shift. You can watch where the rpms drop to see how well your doing. But, that's tougher on the engine and a misshift at that speed could be more of a problem.

See what others with more experience than I have to say too.
