Just like the title states. I would like to gather as much data as possible on 2006 models that are using oil. I would be real interested to see what dates are more prone to oil consumption.

I thought I was low on oil but seems I wasn't looking at that wierd dip stick correctly. I only have 820 miles but checking it every week.

Don't know how to find the date?

I have a 2006 base, build date was 10/2005 and as of 9/17/06 I was burning 1 quart of RP synthetic every 5000 miles, so I can not vote. See oil analysis and TBN here:

same here, built 10/2005 and its burning 1/2-1 quart every 1k miles. You need to add a 10-2005 in the poll.

For the 8 people that checked 10/06 as the BUILD date...

Your car was built last month, you received it this month and it's already burning a lot of oil? Do you live in Hawaii?

My car was ordered in 1/06, built in 2/06 and arrived at the dealer in 4/06!

Is your engine a rev-up with a 6MT?

mine was bulit in 06/2006 and i was missing a quart and a half at 3200 miles

my 06 base with aero package was build august 2005. delivered october 31, 2005. never had a problem on oil consumption. she has 8000 miles as of today, november 25, 2006. first oil change was september 2006 after 4000 miles... my next oil change will be on december. checked dip stick and still on the normal level...

From what I've found it has more to do with revup vs non-revup and 6MT vs 5AT as opposed to build date.

Right, I assume it is the revup + 6MT approx= to oil loss. Correct?

Mine is a July 2006 build 6MT.

Dec 05 build, engine replaced for oil consumption at 8000 miles. The new engine is still consuming at a rate of 1.5Qt/1000 miles (same as before).

What are you going to do, are you going to have them replace it again?? Thats what Im afraid of too, getting a new engine that still consumes oil. I mean if they havent found the problem, then whats the point of getting another defected engine. Which dealer did you go to in socal?

Check my other forum about their new theory involving the PCV valves... from what Ive found so far no one's new engine fixed the problem permanently.

Also there's interesting info about crankvents which sounds like a lot like the fix the dealer was talking about.

I read about the crankvents, it seems like it could work if the problem is from the pcv valve. But I paid 30k for the Z, and nissan should solve this ridiculous problem, I dont want to pay out of my own pocket for something like that. If they dont come up with an answer soon then maybe I just might try it out I guess.

i dont have the issue.... i wondered if it was due to like... driver error, sorta. when i start my car in the morning, i wont drive until the engine is pretty much completely warmed up and even then i barely hit the gas. and when i turn off the car, i wait atleast 1 full minute at idle (i hear the ECU goes into "turning off" mode if its idling for over 45 seconds) and then i shut it down. and when i broke it in, i did EXACTLY what the manual told me. dont go over 4000rpm, and i revved it throughout 1500rpm to 4000rpm so it didnt stay at the same rpm even while cruising.

but if there are so many issues w/ these, then i guess i just dont know anything. thats why im going to enroll at UTI in the spring maybe! i cant wait! ill be able to actually answer peoples questions WITH SOME EDUCATIONAL BACKUP!

Went in to get the ball rolling on a consumption test for the latest engine, and they started making excuses (drive to hard, etc.). It's time to write the letter to Nissan and start that dance. Wouldn't mind if they put in another long block, but would rather they find the issue and fix it than keep "card swapping". The dealer is Power Irvine, good people so far.

I am taking mine in tomorrow morning to end the oil consumption test. Looks to be down 2/3 of a quart in 1000 miles. I am not going to be in the mood to dance with the dealer. They will need to get in touch with Nissan. There is no excuse to burn that much oil in an engine with < 10000 miles on it. I did not drive hard at all during this test. It seems to certainly some rev-up engines.
