Default Chroming (AKA Stripping) Badges

Hey guys,
I know I've seen this done and I tried searching for the guy who did it to his Z, but how do you get the black paint off of the badges (Z ones on the side)? Anybody have any pictures? I'm pretty sure he said that he just used paint thinner on a rag and was careful not to get it on the paint but anybody had any experience with this? Thanks,
Fletch
P.S. I posted this in the exterior mods section but I was going to do it today and hadn't gotten any responses.

with any of the badges, just to be on the safe side, I would remove them from the car before trying to strip them. They're pretty easy to remove, easy to put back on, and this way, there's no chance you'll want to punch yourself for messing up the paint on the car.

As far as stripping the black paint of, I think acetone might work well (nail polish remover). Just put some on a white rag, and try a small spot. I'm not too sure how well paint thinner/mineral spirits would work though.

I haven't done it but this is what I've read on other threads.
Use anyone of the following steps:
1. NAPA Carb/Choke/Throttle Cleaner...suppose to take 2 seconds.
2. Gumout Carb & Choke Cleabner comes in an aerosol.
3. Do not buy the Gumout Fuel Injection/Carbureator Cleaner.
4. Acetone like the prevous poster said or nail polish remover.
5. You can use a toothbrush while the badge is still on the car...just be careful. Or...tape around the badge and use about 15 Q-tips & a cotton towel.
