Default Should I buy a 350Z?

I don't need a new car. I have a boring Camry and it runs and runs and doesn't give me anything but dependable transportation. Having said that, I'm looking for a FUN car to drive on occasion while keeping the Camry for every day transportation. In my price range, I'm considering a 2007 350Z, wait for the 2008 Mustang GT or I may wait until the 2009 Camaro and Challenger are out.

These are the only cars that have gotten my attention.

Whatever I buy, it will be the only FUN car I'm going to buy for a long while. Is the 350 Z going to give me a FUN driving experience and last me a long time or am I going to be plagued with various problems I've reading about (transmisson for example).

Thanks for your advice.

You will love the Z. The problems you read about on any car forums are always blown out of proportion. No body posts to say they have a problem free car, only the negatives. The % of Z's with tranny problems is very low and it was in the earlier model years.

Try the search key and it will tell you everything you want to know as far as problems go. Just keep in mind that generally, the only people who post on a forum are the people who are having problems and want advice about what to do. I have never had any serious problems with my 03 but I don't post up here to say "The car's running great still!" Just keep that in mind.

No don't buy a 350Z!!!

I'm just kidding but the only one that can tell you whether you should buy a new car is you. Keep in mind that if you really like the mustang/camaro the Z is pretty different car IMO.

I am 32 and just recently bought a new 350z 06. I have a truck I use for everyday travel and wanted something fun too. Having owned zee's in the past, buying this car was an easy decision for me. While the mustang and charger are sweet cars, in my opinion, the z is the total package. Looks, handling, and enough speed to keep anyone happy, the other cars you meantion, in my mind, do not have all three. I definetly think you should take your time, going to each dealership, and maybe test ride all three. good luck!

Keep in mind that the Z will be redesigned for 2009 (Figure you could buy one around Sept. 2008)... So your Z will be dated in a few years... If that doesn't bother you then basically what you got with the Z is a good all around performer and handler, where as the Mustang and future Camaro are just big straight line Muscle cars...

Buy one! The only thing you will regret is having a credit card because when the mod bug bites...it bites hard haha. Good luck with your decision.

Fun is way overrated. Stick with boring and dependable.

The problems are with the 03-04 models. Trust me, I had all those problems. The 07 should not have any problems. If I were you, I would wait untill they have the new VQ engine in the Z.

You can get the Mustang if you like looking at Z's tail pipes all day!

The new Camero and Challenger will have problems too since it's an American car AND it'll be their first year models.

Find out what your wants and needs are out of a "fun" car. Camaro's and Z's are apples and oranges.

The choice will be YOURS. I test drove a LOT of cars before the Z. As soon as I sat in the seat, I liked it. (I didn't even start it up, yet) But, when I drove it, it was a no brainer. It's quick. And it handles. (stock) Nissan makes a good car. The Z is excellant! Test drive. Have fun!

to be honest, if you have to even ask yourself that question and then ask it on a Z forum board, then the car is not for you at all. stick with your camry

If you want one of the best sports car on the market for value and performance -- you buy a 350Z. There should be no substitude if you want a top knotch, all motor, V6. (which can be modified to a 400whp+ monster with just a turbo kit.)

Don't worry about transmission problems. They mostly have been corrected as others said. Every car comes with minor faults. Just like mitsu and their turbo reliability, subaru's quality, ford's longevity, and others.

I have a 2003 with 37K and have never had one problem. Make sure you can deal with a 2 seat car. If you keep that Camry what will do. The 350Z is as fun as a car gets.

you should check out the RX-8 also.. its very fun to drive trust me. Doesnt have all that power but handles like a champ. Requires a lot of care and maintanence.

The Z on the other hand is almost as fun on the corners (heavier) and has a lot more power. 07 should be a good wait. You should test drive a 06 and 07 to see if its worth getting the newer one. I know the 06's will have good deals once the 07's come out.

Cool

Buy an '06 350Z, play with it for a while, then buy an '09 Dodge Challenger R/T.

Get the '07 Z, or wait for the '09 Z (rumors)
