I've had my Z for six months and the only other person to drive my Z is my wife . . . for about ten minutes the first week I got it. But she had a 280Z before which she got to drive all the time.

"Show off" sure sounds like a way to get the car back broken after your friend trys to re-enact a drift scene from Fast & Furous III. Have his parents buy him one just like we did.

You see, my point is that all my friends mean well when they borrow a car. They don't want to crash it but theres always that chance. I rather not be put in the situation where my friend crashes my car... but by accident. I love all my friends but theres always that one chance.

Sounds like a bad idea. Go with your gut feeling. The following scenario is likely to happen:
You let your friend borrow the Z.
Friend shows off to get laid and by "show off" I mean drive recklessly.
Friend crashes Z and/or hurts other people.
You lose.
You make a thread called "Friend crashed my Z"
We flame you.

For him to take your car to simply show it off to other people, no way. That is just plain wrong. Tell him you will drive him over and the two of you can show off your car. Show off makes me a little concerned that he would drive it a bit hard and possibly do something stupid.

Keep in mind that if he is driving the car and gets in an accident, the insurance may not pay anything. That would not be good.

I don't think a real friend would put you in that situation of having to have you make that type of decision.

Sorry but this makes no sence? I mean when you say your friends are more importent then any car are they going to die if they don't get to borrow it?

I wouldn't let my friend borrow my car! I won't even let them really drive it unless I'm totally sure they will drive it good and not burn/pop the clutch to much. Just because there good friends doesn't mean you should risk letting them wreck/hurt it.

I like to make my friends happy which makes me happy also, but that's when I buy them a coke or something......

Exactly!!!! If your friend is saying " Hey can I borrow your car to show off?" That will mean he will be abusing it or racing it which he could very possibly kill/hurt someone. I mean yeah there your best friends but this is a car there probably not use to unless they own a sports car as well. It's just not a good idea unless you have full confedence in your friend. So far I would trust NO ONE with my baby.... Just the way it is.

If he did wreck your z33 do you really think he would pay you back for his/your mistake? I mean I'm sure your friends aren't covered in your insurance, so you would be liable for the pay, which again I'm sure he wouldn't pay you because I mean that can get pricey real quick when almost anything is damaged appearance wise or mechanical wise.... Just not worth it to risk then regret later.

The only people I let drive my car are my family. My brother got rear ended when he was driving my Z but regardless I'll still let him drive it, I know he's careful with my car. I'll only let my buddies drive me home if I'm too drunk to drive, but I did that only one once, and since then I always just get a DD if it's a night out drinking. All my friends are trustworthy enough and I've known them all for many years.

But I wouldn't let them just borrow my car to show it off, fu** that, **** happens, but I'd rather have the **** happen and it be my fault.

I let my hot girlfriend take my Z. I think a hot girl should have a hot car, and I like knowing that she's enjoying it.

So if she can't drive a car if her life depended on it but was hot you would think that makes her eligable to drive your car???? That's a sh!tty system...

I think I'd let somone f*ck my wife before I'd let them drive my car. How sick is that?

People, even my friends, probably aren't going to be respectful enough. So, no.

i have only let 2 friends and my dad, drive my Z, and i was in it each time. no one has driven my Z more than a mile. i know my friends would romp on the Z, as they do it to each others rides when they switch rides. i used to switch rides when i had a 2002 accord, that was dressed up a little, my friend has a 2500 chevy 2000 4x4 with a 4" lift, it was nice to drive a truck a few days when i so used to driving lowered cars all the time, but now my Z is worth almost 3x as much as his truck(he has 200k miles on it). i think he knows i wouldnt trade as he has never asked. i think it depends on what your friends are like.

+1 on the friends>car thing. I let my fiance's nephew take my Z when he wanted to take out his girl. Besides I have enough insurance and I figure worse that could happen is I get a new one or aftermarket kit paid for when it gets wrecked. It's a nice car but it is still just a car.
