After Market Cruise Control?
Hello all,
New to the forum and thinking Z again (owned a 280 and 300 previously).
Found a nice low mileage 2006 base and have learned that this level of trim does not have cruise control!!??
Anyone have any experience/recommendations with an add on cruise for this car?
Thanks in advance,
JT

cruise control is overrated. I drive a base model, been doing it for a year and have never missed the cruise control. Even my last car that had it, I think I used it once in about 5 years

For me, I'm just the opposite. 95% of my travel is on a highway, so my cruise has saved me from many a ticket...except that one time i just had my cruise set too high

So far as I have seen on this board, nobody has installed aftermarket CC on a Z. The cars drive by wire system seems to stymie this effort. One guy here was going to rig the CC diaphragm to pull on the actual accelerator pedal, but after saying he was going to embark on the project, he never came back to say how it went.
As for adding factory CC to a base, it is my understanding that at the very least you would need a steering wheel and ECU from an upper model car beyond that I don't know. Most recommend finding a car with cruise control already installed.

cruise control will save you from getting tickets. 3 seconds on the gas and you are a good 15-20 mph faster and when you are near 80ish already and the state trooper is trapping...you will wish you had it. This is why i NEVER considered a base model. CC should be standard for this car...no exceptions. No LSD either....buy an enthusiast and work out your negotiating skills

It can be done, but Im not sure where to even find an aftermarket cruise control set-up anymore. Most were taken off the maket because they were deemed unsafe and hazardous because of malfunctioning issues. Man, its been a while since Ive heard someone request one. Maybe like 10+ yrs.
