My friend with an S2000 also used him on a 70mph over 40mph commerical street. Paid $100, he fought it and a month later he'll send you a letter or call you if he has won ur case.

hmm $184 for a ticket... or $100 + $$$ for lawyer.

Points

The Illinois Administrative Code, Title 92, part 1040.20(c) gives the following point values for these offenses:
  • Reckless driving―55 points
  • Squealing or screeching of tires―10 points
  • Driving too fast for conditions―10 points
  • Driving over the speed limit:
  • 1 to 10mph over―5 points
  • 11 to 14mph over―15 points
  • 15 to 25mph over―20 points
  • More than 25mph over―50 points
Penalties

Three convictions for traffic violations within a 12-month period can result in the revocation or suspension of your driving privilege. How long this revocation or suspension lasts depends on the number of points you have accumulated against your license.
First-Time Suspension

If you have not had your license suspended or revoked for the past seven years, these penalties apply:
  • 0 to 14 points―no action
  • 15 to 44 points―2-month suspension
  • 45 to 74 points―3-month suspension
  • 75 to 89 points―6-month suspension
  • 90 to 99 points―9-month suspension
  • 100 to 109 points―12-month suspension
  • 110 or more points―12-month revocation
Hopefully a good lawyer will help you out. I do not think this is something that you are going to come out very well without one. 3 months is not all that bad considering you would not be driving the Z anyways during those months, but still, you have to use your head out there. Make sure Midtown Madness stays on the computer.

Is traffic school an option here? I know in CA you are allowed to go to traffic school once every 18 months.

I guess my question is will this effect my record in the same category as speeding? I live in Illinois and reckless driving is 40+ so I know i'm ok there but are the two previous violation going to mess with my speeding one?

thanks

Jonathan
The previous citations are for NON-moving violations; they will not affect your driving record. Only the ticket you just got will. I suggest a lawyer as well. You may not get out of it entirely, but it'll probably get reduced. It may even get reduced enough so you are eligible for traffic school, if Illinois offers traffic school... cause I doubt you can go traffic school now since you went 30mph+ the speed limit.

Just get a lawyer. I've been in your shoes when a cop wanted to pull a Wreckless driving ticket out his ***. He lied about going over a certain speed, pulling through imaginary stop signs, and not slowing down.

The lawyer handled all this and now it's not even on my record. Even if you're not the same case, I would not go without a lawyer into court; ever.

First of all, why were you driving 89mph in a 55 zone? Don't come here and ask for advice when you know it was completely your fault. You knew the consequences of speeding and you got caught. Good luck.

Just get a lawyer. It's all you can do when you have to go to your court date. Which you'll probably have if you don't right now. Ignore the immature vasoline and lube comments.

One good turn deserves another?.. He deserves what he gets, driving like that can get someone killed (usually the innocent). Tough love is what this kid needs...

A ticket is enough tough love. I am sure he didn't want to make a thread about his ticket to have people tell him to get stuck at court.

That is criminal speeding in most states, so, as a lawyer, I say get a lawyer. You should be able to find one to do it for relatively cheap ($500-2000 depending), and it will save you a ****load of money on insurance in the long run.
