Default Preventing Z theft

A friend of mine recently lost his Z to theft so that got me thinking about ways to help protect mine. I'm thinking about getting an aftermarket alarm that's more sensitive than the factory alarm. Any suggestions? I have an '06 Z and it has the immobilizer and "theft code". I was reading the theft code paperwork and it says there should be a code etched in my all my windows. I looked at my windows and I don't see a code that matches what's on the theft code paperwork. Is the code supposed to be visible? Also does the immobilizer really work? From my understanding there's a chip in your key that the ignition module looks for before it starts the car. However, the valet key doesn't have that chip but the car still starts! Am I missing something? Can I keep the immobilizer and also install and aftermarket alarm?

Then you shouldnt have modded it in the first place

If theives want your car there is nothing you can do about it but pray and have good insurance

If you want to take the time to buy wheel boots, removable steering wheel, disconnect the ECU, kill switch the fuel pump and buy a super fancy pager alarm that notifies you when the car is tampered with go ahead

A professional thief can flat tow your car in a matter of seconds with help ---- so even if you do all these things, the one day you go to the mall, the movies or even a romantic dinner BOOM your car is history is the they really want it and are smart ---- if they are dumb they will simply knock on your door and stick a gun in your face

BUY INSURANCE and be done with it

Yeah if they really want your car and the theives are good enough then there's not a whole lot that can stop them. Good insurance and common sense (like not booming your $7000 stereo to advertise what you have) is probably the 2 best things you can have.

+1...that's what I have. Factory sh*t is worthless. At least you'll know when someone attempts a jack.

Get a viper 5000, comes with a 2 way pager. I added shock sensors so if some lifts my car up the alarm will go off and alert me.

a. Park in a well lit area. Lock the doors and remove the keys.
b. Alert your neighbors to call 911 if they see any suspicious activity.
c. Do not leave packages or valuables insight inside the car. Audio-video equipment with a removable face is a good idea.
d. If you park on the street, park tight between two vehicles.
If you park in a parking lot, park between vehicles not on the end.

I guess this is good advice for not getting your car stolen. Wouldn't do this if you're worried about your bumper getting tapped or getting door dings.

Insurance tip. Make sure you have a low deductable or its still going to cost you a pretty penny. 250, 500 max.

No such lock exists if a professional wants your car bad enough tho.

Are you talking about the locking clubs like "The Club"? A good thief gets by one of those in a heartbeat. Pretty damn amazing actually.

If someone wants to steal your car, they will. There is nothing you can do to stop it.

That is why there is insurance. This allows you to get another car.

You could get lojack and that would help you at least help locate it.
