So basically, you're inferring that the distribution of each and every car model is purely dependent on the population. I doubt it. I'm sure California has a disproportionately high number of exotics like Ferraris, Lambos, Roll Royces. And I'd bet that farm states have a disproportionate number of pickup trucks.

NC has way too many people. Not that many Zs. I kinda wish it was the other way around.

There are actually many Z's in NC that we don't know about!
I see at least 2-3 Z's a day and most of time they are mid-aged gentelmans.
Also, a local Nissan dealer sells 1-2 Z a week. They said their sales went up
drametically after F&F tokyo drift movie came out. Their whole
lot and show room floor was full of Z's during that movie season..and they are all gone now....

The only reason NC is #10 on the population list is the illegals. They come here because our license laws are so loose (funny that I had to go to the DMV twice to get mine because of a lack of 'proper identification').

California is all about sports cars. When I travel I see rust, snow, and beat up cars. Here if you treat your car right it will last decades. At one time Porsche sold half of its cars sold in the US in California.

Virginia and Maryland are in the top ten, yet they're a fraction of the population in CA, TX, FL, NY, and NJ.

Population is a no brainer. The more people - the more 350Zs. There are 3 odd states. I tied the 350Z to per capita income simple because the 350Z is impractical, and people with money buy impractical things.

I may be grabbing in thin air for a linkage that is not causal.

That is what makes going down to the DMV so enjoyable. You basically have to get there reeeeeeaaaal early.. Or.. Go to a DMV out in B.F.E. I do notice alot of Z's on the road as of late myself and almost everytime a friend sees a white one i always get that phone call asking where i am. Gotta love it..

I see a good amount in Tennessee(Memphis and Knoxville), but it kind of flip flops between S2000's and 350Z's...one week I'll see lots of one and little of the other...and some weeks, very little of both. I guess it all depends on when (and how often) I'm out and where I'm going. I saw about 8 or 9 S2000's this weekend which is kind of freakish...and I can only recall seeing one 350. Buuuuuuuuut, on a side note...I didn't see any M3's.

And another thing...Florida...you wanna talk about a lot of one car...I've never see so many Corvettes in my life...they're everywhere...it's like a Taurus...guess it's all those old retirees down there.
