I'm not completely sure but the cost depends a lot on if you want to do it legally or illegally... Legally getting an S15 is about 30k more or less. I'm guessing the Z is more than that?

It's not the same....you have the side fender turn signals (which could be copied) plus there are some different interior trim pieces... not available in the USA.
Importing....I think very costly. You might have some environmental issues. Can be corrected!
Maybe someone should make a trade for one on a Japanese website?????
It would make a very nice start as a show car!

It shouldn't cost nearly as much as the S15 or the Skylines since the 350Z is already crash tested and emissions tested in the US. I imagine all you would have to do is replace all the glass (unless Japan went to safety glass in the last couple years), ensure you had all the required emissions control installed, and pay for the actual shipping costs.
But in the end, you would have shelled out a good deal of money for basically the same car that you could have just gone to a dealership and gotten for much less.

Yes, it probably is illegal. The state DMVs are very strict on that kind of stuff. Why, I don't know? Maybe because they have nothing better to do?
I browsed that thread and I find it a bit peculiar that he won't give anyone the VIN. "I will give it to you if you are buying." Um, no. I want to run it BEFORE I make an offer. Sounds sketchy.

We have a lot of pre-loved 350's in NZ, that are second hand imports of course from Japan. Generally from the ones I've seen the spec'ing (new term, hehe) isn't as high as the brand new NZ ones were of the same year. To be honest I probably wouldn't waste the time and hassle.

Alot of guys pay between 8K to 15K for US conversion so Are you willing to pay that just for a Z? Do an internet search, because there are companies out there that do importing. I was considering getting an EVO V before, but I wasn't trying to pay 10K on top of the price of the vehicle...

to have a right hand drive Z is more a bragging right. the S15 can be legal here with out changing the glass and they go for 20 to 25 thousand no papers. we have a shop in florida that does the paper work for about 7 thousand.

RBmotoring can import s15's legally I believe...I know they do Skylines and Evos and such. I would expect that you would pay a lot though, the Skylines go for way too much. Motorex imported to but don't know if they are still around.
You could prob. get the RHD Z also from rbmotoring but, again, there would not be much point beyond bragging rights and exclusivity.
