They are lying to people then. They are NOT legal. No one has legalization rights on the Silvia. No company has done any of the tests or procedures necessary to leaglaize this vehicle.

Dude those cars are no where near US spec to go thru the hassle. I was stationed over there for four years and owned a couple of cars over there. If you ever closed a door on a JDM spec 350 you would know what i am talking about.

Back to importing a 350Z right-hand drive. Getting it to the port is the easy part. Getting it out of the port may be more difficult. An inspection by the USDOT will reveal:

a. Replace all glass - not USDOT certified.
b. Replace all tires - not USDOT certified.
c. Vehicle may not meet EPA standards. Lord knows what it will cost to get that fixed.

So you take care of the above. You are still left with state registration which may include another inspection.

BTW you pay any import tariff. And of course state sales tax when you register the vehicle.

Can't be done anymore. There are several GT-Rs held up that will never make it into the country. I spent 9 years in Japan, it was fine to bring anything back with certain modifications (cat converter) but now you can't do it at all. I don't know why it changed.

It's kind of weird, I'm in the AF and we can take cars back and forth to almost anywhere in Europe, but not Japan.

a buddy on mine in the navy is in japan RIght now and told me hes bringing back Z talkin all this Fairlady Crap he'll be comeing home in Feb but...i guess we'll have to wait n see..?!? cuz i dont belive him

everything is exactly the same, just right hand drive. Why would this be difficult, and why would it be all that exotic?
